Well balanced acidity providing expressive notes of hibiscus, lemons, fresh cut grass and passion fruit. Layers of lemon curd, pears, green apples and kiwi. Another wonderful wine from the Aubert team.

Just a beautiful wine in its sweet spot. Had the 2018 CIC Pinot earlier this week and was gobsmacked. Same reaction tonight. Beautiful balance, citrus and floral notes. Every bit as nice as any Marcassin or Peter Michael. Wonderful.

Minerally, smoke, lemony bouquet. Medium to full-bodied. Excellent depth and complexity. Long, long crisp finish. Delicious, but should improve over the next 3 years. Stylistically, more Burgundy-like than your Typical California Chardonnay.

Decanted three (3) hours. Presents intense aromas of apricot, peach, pineapple, mango, and lemon curd. Richly textured, ripe fruit is exquisitely balanced by bright bracing acidity and underlying minerality. Lusciously textured. Surrounds the palate giving way to long, lingering, lip-smacking finish. Another in a string of brilliant offerings from Aubert. Another observed that their desired drinking window for Aubert Chardonnay’s as five (5) years beyond release. I’m inclined to agree with this observation, but these will undoubtedly drink well for many years to come.

This is kind of the space that I like to consume my Auberts in - a few years after release to resolve some of the new oak but not so long that real tertiary or oxidative flavors develop.
PnP at a restaurant, the 18 CIX is rich and voluptuous. Pale gold still, nose brimming with some toasted coconut, white peach, and slightly tropical fruit tones. It has a great oily texture and nice purity and length. Just what I want from the wine. Ready IMO.

PnP, chilled, 15 mines glass time, served blind. Clear, bright med straw color. As always, Aubert outshines the rest of the offering. Med/full body, complex, layered, integrated, balance, powerful fruit with a very long finish. Slight oak, vanilla edge. Delicious. Nothing off. $100.

Aubert's 2018 CIX is a giant of a Chardonnay with soaring aromatics of pear, mixed florals, pâtisseries, and spice. Medium-full body and sensually textured, incredible density of fruit. The oak has integrated nicely over the last two years and this is excellent tonight.

Opened and let sit for two hours, did not decant and then we slowly drank over the next hour or so. This was the aperitif wine before heading out to a BBQ. The nose is floral with a hint of tropics. The palate is peach, melon, pear, guava with a touch of citrus. The finish is long and enchanting.

Did not decant per other reviewers, and drank between 58-65 degrees. Tasted grassy with touch of smoke mid-palate, then softened to a long fruit finish. Very different from a 2015 bottle which I recall as lighter with lovely integrated fruit which danced on the tongue.

Right now this needs air, surprisingly tight on opening. A big but not at all flabby CA chard, very much in line with the greater structure that his Chards seem to have after 2016. I am a fan! With air this unfolded beautifully and I kind of wish we hadn’t enjoyed it so much early in as it was still improving a few hours after opening. Loads of baked apple, granite, lemon, mango? Glad I have more 2018s, and I am in no big rush to drink them. Score : 94. Relative to expectations: ++

Ken's Cozy Cote Rotie's and some fine tequila's (Casa KT): A complete wine in terms of bouquet, palate, depth of flavor and finish. Notes of lemon, honeysuckle touch of vanilla and biscuit on the nose. The WOnderful texture on the palate, creamy with a healthy presence of acidity and wonderful textures. Aubert chards are year in year out exceptional and this 2018 CIX continues that legacy.

NYE 2021 (ST): Double decanted. Beautiful gold in the glass. Nose of lemon rind, but not strong, plus some vanilla, and slight honey. Beautiful honey lemon on the palate, with well integrated oak. A fantastic wine.

Friends followed the preparation directions to a tee before bringing this beauty over. Double decant 4 hours prior to enjoying and a proper chill only help these incredible wine. Lighter pale straw coloring in the glass, but still with the legs you expected from a 15% wine. On the nose initial tree fruits, peach, crisp apple, vanilla and touches of nutmeg. In comparison to other Aubert bottlings nose doesn’t really present any buttery elements, that theme continued to the palate where other citrus joins in instead. Wine is still creamy, but thanks to citrus compliments and less malo influence it seems. Wine provides waves of apricot, lemon lime, almond and touches of honey. The quest for a bad 2018 Aubert continues... with no real hope of success (or failure, or something). Light yellow in color and full in body, the wine offers enveloping aromas of peach, golden delicious apple, fresh brioche, and vanilla extract (i.e., it's that citrus and creamy aspect that make these wines so endearing). The flavors unfold with precision and generosity, offering notes of apricot, gooseberry, lime peel, and toasted almond, with a lively and steely finish. More fulsome than an (equally awesome) UV-SL tasted on the same night. 15% alcohol. Drink in 2022 or later, but count yourself lucky whatever the timing: this is quite a wine.
This wine really benefitted from an hour plus decant. Nose of honeysuckle, peaches, and flowers. Beautiful texture, rich tropical fruits, honeysuckle and slight meyer lemon. Still young. Give this another year or two and can see a couple more points.

This wine was consumed on my wife's birthday paired with boiled cold water lobster tails with drawn butter, French fries and coleslaw. It was drank out of a Sensory glass.
The wine was decanted for approximately 2.5+ hours at cellar temp approx 55 degrees. It was poured back into the bottle and placed in the refrigerator without the cork for approx 30 minutes to lower the temp ever so slightly. The wine was then consumed over the next 3+ hours but never getting warmer than approx 55 degrees.
The color was a lighter to medium yellow gold. It had aromas of flowers and citrus. The taste had a presence of orchard and stone fruits, a little citrus fruit and very pleasant hints of oak. It has a nice creamy smooth mouthfeel from the oak with good medium+ finish. The wine is well balanced and can be cellared for several more years or consumed now with a good decant.
My score is a 95+ with room for a higher score with some more bottle age. This is a very well made and enjoyable Chardonnay from Mark Aubert, Bravo!
This wine is a bit shy at this stage but shows tons of promise for the future. A 1.5 hour decant revealed the bouquet and with every minute the flavor blossomed. I would say this is a good one to hold for next couple of years and let it develop. This is no where near ready to drink but can be enjoyed with 2 hour decant and lost of air.

So young, wish I had more to age for a few years before trying again. Flinty minerals and chalk with a punchy, oaky aroma. Very alluring. Needs at the very least one hour to open up, a bit longer is better. After an hour and with a cheese pairing, this wine gets bulkier and very tasty: dry, balanced acidity with a slightly sweet mouthfeel. Honey and lemon zest, but still quite dry, with toasted pine needles and white tea. Intense and delicious. After 90 minutes this wine is ready to go. Decant for at least 90 minutes if you're drinking this in November 2020....

The 2018 Aubert CIX is gorgeous and one of my favorite 2018s. The nose is very Sonoma Coast, with lemon, sea spray, white pepper, and slate. Very savory on the palate with a distinct unami flavored finish. This is drinking beautifully today if you want to pop a bottle.

Popped, double decanted (I have learned my lesson), and poured.
Wine is bright, light, lemon color, almost greenish. Not what I would have expected.
On nose, wine is sound. Amazing aroma of green apples, pineapple, and a spice note.
On palate, wine is sound. Medium acid, high alcohol, no tannins, dry with a tiny touch of residual sugar, and a very very long finish. A glycerol mouthfeel and a touch of non-woody oak.
Overall an excellent wine! I am looking forward to seeing how this evolves over time. I would expect the oak to mellow a bit and the glycerol and alcohol to integrate better. Awesome!

Pulled this out in a pinch as my wife’s best friend was coming for dinner and she only drinks white wine. Very tight at first so I splash decanted it which was a first for me on a white wine. That helped open up the tropical flavors and smoothed out the finish.
Day one: Not a huge fan. Big, oaky, highly alcoholic. This wine may just not be to my taste at this point in its life. Curious how it evolves with a day of air, but boy oh boy is this just a lot right now.
Youthful ripe apple & pear, fruit blossom, pâtisseries, and spice. Oak is more overt than Aubert's other cuvées this vintage. Full bodied and supple but this needs time, possibly the most of Aubert's wines this year.

We love this release from Aubert. Plenty of oak but it tastes well integrated with balanced tropical and citrus notes. Hints of lime rather than lemon and white tea rather than pineapple...impressive. Mild caramel/butterscotch aromas linger once the glass is empty, but there isn't a strong malolactic presence overall. Delicious.

First taste of the 18 single vineyards, splash double decanted, creamy lemon with pear & vanilla, long finish; outstanding, drink or preferably hold. In contrast to the 17, this seems bigger & will need more time
My initial impression was correct as it is even better on day 2 (raised a point)
Asparagus and grassy notes on the nose. Clean, crisp finish with hints of vanilla on the palette. Excellent California Chardonnay. Check out @west_coast_wino on Instagram for more great recommendations, reviews and stories.
