Garnet with ruby edge in color. Nose of cherry liqueur and sweet earth. On the palate: sour cherries, raspberries and baking spice. Tannins are grippy, but fine-grained; perceived mostly on the gums and cheeks. Mouth puckering and somewhat astringent finish of dark berries, wood spice and pencil shavings.

Not as elegant and nuanced as the Collemattoni, of the same vintage: 2018. On nose:cherry pits and lead pencil. On palate: follow through of above flavours, as well as notes of rosemary, tobacco braced by clean acidity.....but even after a 3 hour decant, the new oak elements are too persistent ....a good producer...but this vintage was too heavy on new oak....ageing will not help....drink now, with spicy Puttanesca.

Decanted for 3 hours. Very enjoyable, but quite straightforward. Sour cherries, sweet spices, some wood. Good acidity. Their brunello is €15 more but much better

Light crimson color w/initial nose of light lead pencil w/good legs. Flavor of light cherries w/soft acidity. Balanced finish. Served w/appetizers of prosciutto, Parmigiana Reggiano & figs.

Pretty fruit on the nose. Juicy on the palate - distinctly Brunello darker red slightly sour fruit flavors with some smoke and tar. Some cranberry. The fruit sweetened up quite a bit after an hour. Very light tannin. Lives on its acid. A little disjointed still and the flavors disappear quickly on the finish. Hasn't yet found it's way. I would wait a year or two on this and hope it comes together and develops some length. But I doubt it will ever be compelling.

Translucent ruby color. Nose of highly perfumed strawberry blossom, earth, berry, cherry pits. Layers of energetic tart black cherry, iodine, leather, earth, and holiday cake spices on the palate. Vibrant acidity and firm but slightly softened tannin. Longer finish of bright cherry, leather, fine earth, and a bit of tobacco. Brilliant with pesto, arugula, and shredded chicken over penne. Excellent QPR. Consumed while staying at a tiny house at Alexandria Nicole winery.

Young and ambitious - big alcohol, big tannin, big minerals, big acid. It swings and it connects for me. Worth a deep sniff - there are nuance and complex smells to unearth. Blackberry and black licorice and new leather and just the right touch of VA. The aromatics of new Italian blood - Very big and loaded with acid and minerals and plethora of tannin, carving our some room for fresh cherries.

Cherries, baked berries, cinnamon, and milk chocolate on the nose, high alcohol. Berries up front, nicely balanced between fruity and more earthy flavors. Medium body/acidity/tannins. Easy on its own, would be great with food.

This is drinking really great straight out of the bottle. Yes it improved in the decanter, but dang, I haven't had a Rosso that drinks more like a Brunello in quite some time. Yum! I will be buying more.

Red licorice, warm wood, fresh soil. Comes off more new world and modern on the nose. Probably just youthful, but it is very pleasant to smell. Nicely structured palate, little funky. Would be a nice daily drinker without breaking the bank.

This wine pours fairly light for Sangiovese, between medium and light ruby. On the initial pour the nose has a strong vaguely chemical note, actually somewhat like the petrol note you can get on Riesling. I suspect this is reduction as it blows off with a day or two of air. The nose moderately intensity, low complexity showing red licorice, red cherry, rosemary, dried cherry, and a faint touch of coriander seed. The palate is medium in tannin, medium plus in acid with lovely bright red cherry fruit. The finish doesn’t go on terribly long but is pleasant and food friendly.

Oldwines nailed this. The wine is sort of rustic, lacking any sort of excitment or fruit with quite a sharp mid-palate, with sour cherry, tar and dried florals, this is an easy drinking and basic rosso, finish is simple. I know 2018 was tough, but still this feels a bit angular.

There's a charm to this wine's silky texture and ethereal (if almost thin) body, but the acidity is so high that it seemed rustic and unbalanced. Aromas and flavours are undistinguished. A nice food wine but lacking joie de vivre.

Good brightness and structure, with savory red fruit, earth, smoked meat, asphalt, and spices. It shows a really good presence and stands up to almost any type of food. Always a winner.

An engaging and savoury nose of smoked meats and black earth. There are crisp berry and cherry fruits that work well with all of the other aromas and flavours. It is ripe but contained and finishes with crisp, minerally acidity.

Nice Nose. Dark cherry, black and red currant, sweet spice oak character. Ripe but fresh on the palate. Juicy, acidic medium finish. A very good, crowd-pleasing Rosso. Great note from Oldwines below - I can see exactly how that conclusion is drawn but personally I enjoy this for a Rosso.

Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello NYC. This producer confounds me, but I may have gotten some clarity on it today with regard to the Brunello bottlings at least (see my note on the Brunello 2015). This bottling is definitely heavily oak influenced and very floral in addition to the sweet spices. Palate is sharp, not at all "pretty" and the fruit seems submerged under the oak. Some people and critics (you know who) really love this producer but I found the oak treatment and extraction here missed the mark compared to many other Rosso's I tasted today from the very elegant 2018 vintage. Just not my style.
