Medium ruby. Raspberry, chocolate, and a bit of alcohol on the nose. Initial impression is smooth and balanced, the acid is present but not overpowering or tart, the tannins are still noticable but pleasant and leave a lingering dryness. The wine is fruity but subtly so, I wouldn't place this in Napa given the mild fruit, it's restrained and composed in an unexpected way. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

Pre-birthday wine on this snowy evening, I was supposed to have this for my birthday in 2021 then I came down with COVID so here we are three years later.
Lovely aromas of violet, rosemary, leather, black cherry, and blackberry. Juicy flavours of black cherry, ripe plum, cherry, licorice, bell pepper, and iron.
Medium plus acidity with approachable tannins to go with the medium minus finish. A savoury yet ripe wine, good stuff.

Flowers and red fruit aromas. On the palate the tannins are sweet and fully resolved and integrated with the black cherry, blueberry, chassis and vanilla. Just a yummy merlot to enjoy sipping or with food.

This starts out a bit tight, somewhat primary, but it grows and evolves, revealing wonderful notes of dark fruit, plums, pastille, Christmas spices, and a whiff of peaches. It's so creamy and savory but it's also generous with its fruit-centered elements, bright energy, and impeccable balance. Always a lovely drop.

Deep ruby core with bright ruby trimmings at its edges. Concentrated nose of red fruit, plum, black cherry, with vanilla & dairy chocolate notes. Bottle breathing this for 2 hours allows the wine to open up to more feminine floral violet bouquet. Well integrated & fleshy tannins on the palate. I enjoyed the finish which has a hint of cloves & cinnamon notes

A straight laced four square Merlot that is easy drinking. Red cherry, touch of spice, firm structure. This was a pop n pour and could have benefited from an hour of decanting. First bottle opened was totally corked. Second bottle was not corked. While I hate sending back wines at a restaurant, TCA is TCA and not my fault. I always use it as an education opportunity for those who want to try the two side by side.

Needed a few hours to really open up and show its stuff, but once it did, wow. This is a lovely Merlot. Floral, elegant, ethereal on the nose. Beautiful red fruits. Very delicate and intricate. Palate has so much tension and energy, lots of lovely acid, rocky mineral character, some tannins too. Finish was true to Merlot, the red fruit tailed off but the rocky-chalky character persisted for awhile, little bit of flowers too.
Didn't love this up front but as the night went on and this opened up, it became a stunner.
Drink now with a 2-3 hour decant or hold for 3-5 years.
My WOTN, Wine of the Night, thanks to @[1|24439245|Joe Yee Wong] for sharing this on his celebration night as well as early Vivino kaki NY eve dinner in Wun Nam.
I had this blind, and got the red fruit notes immediately, which developed into ripe cherries, some plum and then vanilla came through. I took a stab at this and described this confidently as a Merlot... Surprising myself, I got it right, there's always a first time for everything I guess!
I can't wait to try and learn more about Napa's many wines.. Cheers.

I decanted my wine three hours prior to dinner, and served it with beef stew. My wine was still closed up after four hours in the decanter, and the consensus was that 2016 was a better wine. The 2017 may benefit from age, but I'm not sure if I have the patience to sit on a Cali Merlot.

Decant at 1 hour and another tasting after 2 hours. A really nice dark ruby color in glass, with berry, vanilla, and campfire smoke with light herbs and cocoa on the nose. On the palate, dark fruit, dark cherry, vanilla, and light plum and leather. There is a long finish with soft and smooth tannins and a soft, low-medium acidity. The Cab Sauv/Franc adds to the body and structure. A good wine. Will lay a bottle or 2 down for a couple years.

Medium ruby. 👃Decanted for an hour. The 2017 vintage opens up to herbs like sage and black fruits like plum and black cherry. The attack are sour cherry. Supported by toasted oak at mid palate. Finishing with baking spices. 👅 Medium bodied, acidity, supple tannins and intensity. Well structured. Long and elegant finish. 💭 Drinks well now after some decanting time.

You know, this could be mistaken for a low end Pomerol from Bordeaux. And that is about massive compliment as you can give to a Merlot. Being from Napa, has strong tannins for a merlot. The fruit and acid is there to, as is some mineral. Very nice on the palate. Exceeded, by far, my expectations for what is possible with Merlot in Napa. Grossly overpriced though, as is everything from Cali here in Europe.

we are enjoying this tonight. we finished off the higher end andrew will sorella 2015, and followed it with this wine costing $45 less, with little dropoff in enjoyment. I still prefer the sorella, but have a budget, so this is a welcome find. i did mellow it a bit with addition of a 10 year old rioja, since I prefer gentler wines.

Nose is flowery and earthy, what starts as very light on the palate develops nicely throughout the journey - cherry, vanilla and well balanced and long. Not too bold, very easy to drink and will look forward to see how this develops on next 4-6 years.

This was a little disappointing. Fruit forward style that is the “in thing” in Napa these days. Polished but lacking depth and nuance. I think Washington State merlots are more provocative.
Drank day after purchase, obviously too young and drank too quickly after pouring (from 375). After opening up and finishing last half of bottle this is pretty decent, balanced and long stuff. Good value for 375s.

Dark ruby color with inviting black cherry, blueberry, tobacco vanilla cassis cacao, and a hint of mint aromas. On the palate, it's medium bodied with fine grained tannins(I recommendation least 30 minute decant), a supple texture and med acidity with flavors that follow with aromas, plus hints of vanilla, and dried herb. Blend of 80% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Malbec from several individual vineyard lots, incorporating fruit from our estate vineyards and from top independent growers from 9 Napa Valley sub-AVAs. Raised in 100% French oak (40% new, 60% neutral) for 15 months. 14.5% abv|SRP - $56
It paired nicely with Eggplant Parmesan

An explosive bouquet on the nose with a focus on mixed berries, and essentially a "jammy" wine, and acidity did not seem to be high enough for my tastes, let alone not have sufficient structure that I prefer for food pairings. This was opened and tasted along side other California fairly well known named wines, and because I'm more used to Old World, this did very little for me, but I recognize the fact that this label has appeal with a segment in my community for easy drinking (and those who pay much less so to the wine's evolution and pairing throughout the meal).

A bit too jammy, but pleasant. Red and blue dark fruits, light body, medium acidity. Not much of a finish. There are better merlot blends for this price, especially those from Washington.

OMG. Lightly fruity and completely enviting on the nose. On the palate, Enters and finishes with inviting silky smoothness . Medium-full body and mouthfeel, With a very inviting balance of acid and sweetness, fruitiness and length. It paired very well indeed , with tamales over rice and a chopped salad.

Semi-blind tasting of 6 Merlots in June. One hour decant. Medium ruby with high viscosity. Complex nose with both fruity and savory notes, including cherry, plum, tomato leaf, smoked meats and tobacco. Med+ body on the palate with cherry, plum and blueberry fruit, surrounded by bacon and smoked game. Let it sit a bit. Was least favorite of 3 of the 6 in the crowd despite being most expensive (although it was my favorite of the 6).

Strong fruity nose with black plums, black currants, coffee, cedar, vanilla, leather, earth, peppercorn, pencil lead, dark coffee, dark chocolates, coke, tobacco and alcohol.
Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, chocolates, bitter herbs, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Spicy finish with medium tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Napa Merlot is always enjoyable, although very young. Needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (2 hours).
Tangy, spicy and tasty. Nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. A nice sipping wine.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a beef burger and fries.
A blend of 80% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 0.5% Malbec. Aged for 15 months in 40% new French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$45.

Definitely decant this few hours. Bold and rich for a merlot. Got red fruits on the nose but more darker fruits on the palate. Soft and plush. Easy drinking!

8/16/2020 - VincentMorey Does not like this wine:
An explosive bouquet on the nose with a focus on mixed berries, and essentially a "jammy" wine, and acidity did not seem to be high enough for my tastes, let alone not have sufficient structure that I prefer for food pairings. This was opened and tasted along side other California fairly well known named wines, and because I'm more used to Old World, this did very little for me, but I recognize the fact that this label has appeal with a segment in my community for easy drinking (and those who pay much less so to the wine's evolution and pairing throughout the meal).

Tasted blind. Soft and velvety. Red and dark fruit jams. Needs to be drank with food, and improves after time in the glass.

Thin and lacking. It's not bad, but would not buy again. The Lateral 2015 I had yesterday absolutely blows this away and at the same price point.

Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
92 points.
$45.

(At SFO United Club Room): Big fruit, nice flavors. Smooth at the outset but with some tannin to age. Very good. 92+
