Rhubarb, baled apricot tarte, dried and fresh apricot, black tea. A mix between germany and austria, this has amazing richness with a stunning elegance and balance. A true stunner!!

Tasted at Fourth Friday group. Color is deep brown with hues of caramel. Tasted of an aged Trockenbeerenauslese with sweetness matching the acidity. The viscosity was a wonderful thick syrup.

Served blind and it was very interesting that a friend of ours picked it up as a Kracher! No way this can be spotted as a chardonnay. A very solid wine, dense caramel in color. Good acidity, light oily texture, a touch heavier than when we had this in Dec14. Very much a noble rot wine, honey, caramel, apricots. This can definitely age but we do not regret having this now. 93

So much better than the 2001 straw an. This has great balance, with a real acidity underlying the high super content. Drinking really well now, but should also carry on at this high level for another 5++ years.

I think time will benefit here- there is so much in that bottle, it seemed jammed together, not able to fully express...yet. A truly unique wine. Worth it. I agree with Jeff Leve, as I often do- more acid would help- but again, the best is yet to come here, I suspect.

Tasted blind. Guessed the noble rot bit but no more. (375ml) This is a Chadonnay? This is a masterpiece of a chardonnay. From start to finish this wine is a sheer classy, well made sweet wine with excellent acifity and balance. The fruit shines, ripe apricots, honeyed notes, light caramel, all in unisona dn balanced. Stunning! 96+

Drank with dessert of biscotti and blackberry tart at Via Alloro. Honeyed, caramelized and thick. Very delicious and can easily stand up to pretty much any dessert. Would have scored higher but a touch over the top for me. But this thing can last decades.

Deep orange in color, the wine is packed with scents of vanilla, orange, honey, lemon, pineapple, apricot and tropical fruit drenched in macadamia nut honey. Thick, intense and with the texture of syrup, the wine coats your glass and palate. It’s pure intensity. I would have liked a bit more acidity.

Deep amber color. Aromas of baked apple and citrus turn to apricot preserves, clover honey and guava. Hints of a waxy, Rhonish quality too. Rich, viscous texture with flavors of orange blossom honey, apricot preserves, guava and papaya. Long finish.

Opened by Allred. This was the 3rd Noble man I have had. The others being the 2002 and 2006. This dessert wine was on par with the others. Always a consistently great wine. The WOTN beating out a very fine 2001 Kracher #7. Peach and floral aromas. Super concentrated notes of guava and passion fruit. Firm acidity which almost rattles your teeth. Some botrytis notes on the finish. 96 points.

The color of honey, which is perfect for this wine. Scents of honey coated, apricots, mango, orange, mango, flowers, spice, roasted nuts and pineapple are easy to find. Thick, rich and intense, this immense, sweet wine is about power and sweetness and not finesse or freshness. I get the quality, but its a wine for sugar addicts.

Elegant in the bouquet, great on the palate. Apricots, polishing wax, cinnamon, some nutmeg and other spices. Enormously concentrated. Great and complex wine.

this wine is always too flabby and overtly sweet, as chardonnay just can't support the process over time. i'll never let future bottles hang around this long again. if you just want to be knocked on your ass by sugar, this is the wine for you.

NYC Sine Qua Non Dinner at Eleven Madison Park (New York): My first experience with a Mr. K and it was awesome. We had this with Fois Gras and it went well. The nose on this was almost smoky to me and reminded me of some of the "harsher" or less sweet dessert wines that I have tried and not liked but none of that was evident on the palate. Very sweet with complex flavors of honey and a good finish. I was left wanting much more once I finished my glass.

Sine Qua Non Extravaganza (RJ's): Nose is huge, massive amounts of tropical fruits, honeysuckle, butterscotch, lichee fruit and sugar... The texture is super thick and oily which others liked more than myself. This is very good stuff, but some might be fooled by it's sweetness in thinking it's better than it really is. But then again, to each their own.

It's difficult to know whether it's time that's been good to this wine, or whether it was the original stuffing from the Alban vineyard, but this is one good wine, perhaps the best dessert wine that I've had. Were it not for the initial sugar attack, my "score might have been higher", but so it goes. A fabulous initial nose of botrytis and sugar and yellow fruit gives way to mouth filling tastes of yellow and white fruit overlaid by barely ripe red cherries. There's a huge undertone of nuts and (above all) butterscotch which, in turn, gives way to a length that lasts forever. A fabulous bottle of wine, and I wish that I had more than 1 remaining.

residual sugar 255 grams per liter 11.1 grams per liter of acidity 11.7% finished alcohol
i had a bottle of this a couple of weeks ago, and wasn't all that complimentary. it seemed cloying and just too damn sweet (redundant? ). maybe it was jane's delicious homemade brownies (which disappeared in a flash) that provided the perfect foil for this wine this evening, because it was quite delicious. it brought the night to a lovely conclusion.
