A gorgeous wine. Pencil lead, dark pretty ruby red color, purity of fruit and freshness with strong tannic and acidic structure. Even as a pop and pour, this was a hit, and I imagine it will evolve into something even more special in the years to come. Had over cheese/ ham/ hummus, and crackers in JeJu kitchen porch with our friends from Chonju.

What a terrific wine! Reminds me of Cantemerle - proof that Bordeaux can be the QPR queen of the world. Also it's in the more modern style, approachable and more lush - but it still has a spine to it.

Beautiful nose with notes of blueberry, blackberry, cola, cedar and vanilla. Obviously very young and tannic, yet approachable with air. Oak is very well integrated. Some complexity that will unfurl more with age. Medium+ finish

Chateau Siran was, at one point in time, designated one of the Cru Bourgeoise Exceptionnel. I’m not sure if it was politics or the classification was just too convoluted? Perhaps a bit of both? Regardless, I think they have since left the classification all together. That being said, things seem to be going just fine at the estate if this bottle is indicative.
Popped and poured into a Boa decanter about an hour prior to service. The 2020 pours a deep ruby with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of cassis, jalapeño pepper, pencil lead, tobacco, cedar chest, gravel, baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with sneaky, medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with tart black fruit. The finish is long, dark and elegant, by Bordeaux standards. Drink now with patience (and a decant) through 2035+

Dark reddish-purple garnet in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruits aromas of dark cherries, blueberries & cassis with overtones of floral notes of violets & dusty/earthy notes, spices, cocoa, coffee, tobacco, minerals & a hint of vanilla/oak. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with herbs, graphite, minerals, spices & vanilla/oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging. An indicative blend of 47% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot & 1% Cabernet Franc. Very good QPR.

Solide 94, vin exceptionnel.

The complex nose opens with espresso, spice, smoke, mint leaves and an array of red pit fruits. The palate experience is even better with its layers of creamy, fresh, sweet, luscious fruits and silky tannins and touch of chocolate and spice that kicks in at the end of the long finish. Give this a year or two in the cellar and enjoy it over the following 2 decades. Siran is the best deal in high quality wine in the Margaux appellation today. Drink from 2024-2050.

At the UGC Chicago. Mild fruit fragrance, nice though moderate rather than rich Cabernet flavor with some oak on the palate. No obvious faults, moderate aftertaste of about 5 seconds. I have enjoyed earlier vintages of Siran and have found it to be a very good value, and the 2020 is no exception.

2026-2040 (April/Mai 2021)

Incense, spice, oak, licorice, spearmint, smoke and red fruits peek through the perfume with ease. From there, the wine is plush and polished round and supple with layers of sweet, ripe fruits, spice and earthy nuances. Give this 7-8 years of cellaring and pop a cork on the best value in the Margaux appellation today. 92-94

Decent nose, some confected/sweet red and black fruits, has a cool/freshness too. Juicy, some density and weight, feels rounded; good intensity and structure, quite fine with some chalky grip.

Deep rich ruby Subtle and cool on the nose, a touch of leafy adds to a sense of freshness, there are tangy fruit seeds and a taut Cabernet fruit character. Feels quite silky and fine. The palate is similarly fresh, and tasty, on the lighter side with a red fruit bias. Taut, becomes leaner and shows some light toast on the finish.

Drank over two days. Quite disjointed and unconvincing at this stage. Not sure if this needs more time or if it's just not in my wheelhouse.
