Rhone night with friends at Wink. Three hour double decant was sufficient to allow settling into what is now a finesse wine. No longer the brute taking a day to settle down. Multilayered dark fruit, meat, and hint of blood. Lighter on its feet than previous bottles. Truly special.

Super Bowl 2022 (Alpharetta, GA): Reddish violet; big, ripe, figgy, raspberry, nori, cobbler, ripe round and ready, very Chateauneuf-like as several others noted, a bit too big and ripe for me; called '07 Mon Aieul.

Super Bowl 2022 (Alpharetta, GA): Unblinded. Showing where it is from with classic old world Syrah nose & flavor profile. Young & fresh, but drinking great now but this will continue to get better in the bottle.

(from 3L) Still a crazy bottle - tons of mango and raspberry coulis on the nose still. On the palate - it's a bit of a moody teenager. Trick question is: do you wait for the development and hope you don't lose the distinctive tropical notes, or do you pop them now for the mind bending new-world/old-world thing?
Edit. On Day 4 from a recorked a half full bottle: incredible sweet fruit. There's your answer. Leave them 20 years. Wow.

I gave the bottle 2.5 hours of breathing time before drinking. The wine was ruby dark, perfectly balanced, long finished. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, fig, prune and plum. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry, black currant (cassis), fig and prune. The wine has medium acidity.

Big, enveloping nose of earl grey tea, soy, red meats, stewed plums, chocolate and black currants. Multi dimensional palate with sweet, evolving and young tannins, and velvety deep texture. Finished with a bang with great length, and dry dusty tannins that are extremely well balanced.
Checks in at 15 percent alcohol but not noticeable; not usually my style but really enjoying this tonight and this can be had now or in ten years and will be even better

What a bottle. Meaty, black olives, herbal at times. Rich, blood, iron. Took some time to develop - had it decanted for about 3 hrs. Of course, just got better and better through the night. Terrific wine.

Occasional dinner group: Riesling GG and 100 RP point wines: Beautiful bouquet with minerals, dark berries and meaty flavors. Same on the palate; sweet and ripe dark berries, very juicy. Beautiful acidity and round tannin with a lovely bite. Great wine with a great future. Hope to taste again around 2025. 94 – 95+ for now.

[From 3L] OK, now this is a pretty cool bottle of Hermitage. It smells anything but, with New World style hyper-ripe notes of raspberry jam and mango; the palate is still pretty ripe but retains a streak of minerality to it. Never hot or pruney (ie the ripeness isn't offputting a la 2003) - it will probably come together as legendary Hermitage in 10 years or so. As with many of Chapoutier's wines, I miss a little complexity/sense of place/drinkability in this - we'll see if it evolves that way

This is a dark wine with amazing aromas that only improved with decant. There was an exotic mix of mango and sesame and blueberry with a lovely mouthfeel and sweet fruit on the palate and long and gracious finish.

Un vin au profil presque Nouveau monde, que certains ont confondu avec le Cayuse tant il était un peu "over the top" et au fruité crémeux. Un vin très puissant, tout d'un bloc tannique et à la richesse alcoolique évidente. Très long. Pas trop mon genre et très étonné vu l'étiquette Chapoutier, mais ça demeure un vin très bien fait aux qualités évidentes.

4 hr decant. The nose was so rich one hardly needed to drink this. Flavors of dark berries and cherries, white pepper, minerals. Intense, persistent finish. Memorable wine.

So different from the other cru in this year. Sweet, modern, hinting at overripeness, unbelievably young and primary.

Rich, opulent, yet still balanced thanks to the acidity. Blood, iron, minerals, green olives, the Hermitage version of a bionic frog
