Has smoothed some since opening the first bottle on release. Gorgeous. A little grapey but otherwise well balanced. It tastes great but smells even better.

If I was handed this blind, I would call it a high-end premier cru Savigny Les Beaune or Pommard. It has very expressive aromas on pop & pour, with a lot of ripe cherry and subtle earthy shrubby herbs. Palate is a pop of red and blue fruit, zings of candy and citrus, but the underlying wet leafy & mushroomy thing we all love about Burg. Medium plus acidity, medium body, 13.9% ABV, but drinks like 13, very nicely balanced. Finish lasts several minutes. This thing is polished, plush, and really really delicious.

Full body, lots of fruit, good tannins, still young and should develop, a big wine for DDO, no subtlety but complex flavors, 2019 appears to have a very good year for DDO, drank with magret of duck with blackberry gatronique and saffron basmati rice, will drink again, looking forward to the 2019 Louise.

Return to Willamette; 7/2/2023-7/8/2023 (Portland & Willamette): More bright fruits, darker red berries. 20-25% of new French oak. Soft. Lots of baking spice. Easier style but get the feeling this has the stuffing to age a bit more. Still more quiet. Quicker finish than I expected.

Beautiful aroma. Rich and full on the palate with an attractive balanced sweetness and crisp acidity. Raspberry, mineral and a touch of spice on a long finish. Excellent.

App: medium ruby. Nose: medium plus intensity; aromas of cloves, nutmeg, raspberry, red roses, red plum, sandalwood, black cherry, black olives. It’s developing. Palate: dry, high acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, medium body, medium plus flavour intensity, red plum, dark cherry, musky. The finish is long with lingering dark cherry, black olive and milk chocolate. Quite burgundy alike on the nose, but really delicious on the palate at its youth. The length are very impressive with waves of flavors coming through. With a few more years ageing, this would be gorgeous and complex.

Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Just a taste and enough to pique my curiosity. Shows very well for this age. Classy as expected. Love to see this again in another 4 or 5 years. 93 or better over time I suspect.

A gorgeous young wine. Just received my shipment and had to try one, but will let the others age several years. Nice blend of fruits, some soft earth tones, hints of spice, acidity is a bit bracing at this point.

By the glass. Herbaceous nose of violets and cherries. On the palate it is an elegantly austere but well balanced wine. It has a decent spine and an acidity that will allow it to age a few years with dignity. Knowledge is not enough ... Terroir is the key.

This is solid. Would have guessed burgundy if served blind.

This is in a perfect drinking window right now. Everyone at our dinner party raved at how good it was. DD Laurene never disappoints!

Despite its ABV it was too sweet, not enough acidity, too big of body, and it lacked complexity.

Mid colour. Prominent raspberry on the nose and palate. A well made wine with a delightful beginning, middle and end.

NY Wine Experience 2022; 10/20/2022-10/23/2022 (Marriott Marquis): This was a bit more on the light side although not as much as Evening Land. Again a lot of floral, maybe not quite the hand soap. There's some restraint to it. Drinks well.
