It is possible this wine might show a little improvement with more aging. However, the fact this wine exists and performs as well as it does, given the fire and weather challenges, is a tribute to Carlisle.

Bright crimson in color. 15% ABV. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, citrus and pepper. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. There is an abundance of bright, earthy fruits. Exceptional balance. Strawberry, cranberry, blood orange and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Delicious Zinfandel and potentially the best Sonoma County to date. The pedigree of the fruit shines through. Best over the next 2-4 years.

Pop and pour. Aromas of boysenberry, wild cherry, huckleberry, blueberry and currant. Flavors of cherry, boysenberry, raspberry, cranberry and pepper. Ends with a nice 15-20 second finish with blue and red fruit notes.

A nose of bold sweet black cherry and spice, dark garnet in color. A full bodied Zin, with black cherry and smoky peppery flavors, jammy with a long finish. Always good every year. www.winelx.com

2 hour slow ox. Nose: Perfumed, sweet red fruit aromas. Palate: Sweet red fruits with medium acidity and a clean finish. I would recommend at least a slow ox if not a decant on this wine. In addition I like to give these 15+ % alc monsters a bit of time in the fridge to offset the alc heat. Agree w/ others that this is not the best vintage of this wine but it still has appeal with some air. 89+ points for me. One more left in the cellar.

Coravin by the glass. Aromas of red raspberry, bramble and spice. Red raspberry, tangerine, red licorice, bramble and spice on the palate. Long finish. Medium to full bodied. An excellent QPR. Served with cheese pizza.

Very little going on here aromatically. On the palate there is raspberry, black pepper, mint and just a hint of sour dark berry with medium Body. Finishes fast and thin with little fruit, trace oak. Pleasant enough but not particularly memorable.

I always enjoy this bottling but don’t always find that it speaks to the house style. This one does, with laser like acidity pulsing through pristine dark fruit. Some bitter dark chocolate on the finish. Shockingly good for a $25 appelation bottling but not at all surprising when you see its nearly 70% Pagani fruit with the balance coming from vineyards like Papera, Carlisle, Old Hill and Bedrock.

Medium ruby, red fruit sage and eucalyptus on the nose. On the palate high acidity, high alcohol, high tannin, cherries and white pepper. Long finish. Will likely improve but drinking great young.

Again, these punch above their price point. Solid red fruit, good acidity. Great burger wine. Well balanced and not overdone. This was really good now.

Not much on the nose at this point. Raspberry, spice, black pepper and sweet oak hold the flavor profile here through a somewhat light to medium bodied midpalate. Finishes with mild astringency and acid with a flash of red fruit. Comes across as a bit diluted

Coming in at 73% Sonoma Valley fruit and 27% Russian River Valley, this is exceptional and a humbling value. Almost sappy, yet so elegant and focused, with a starchy staying power. Very food friendly - as generic as that sounds, this is very versatile. Black cherries, dried earth, dried cranberries, salty rock, char-siu and flower shop. There’s this almost velvety, yet chiseled middle. Long finish and quite ready to enjoy. This is a must-buy at three-times the price. Drink now - 2029.

PnP. Wet earth and leaves covering up some red fruit aromas. Vibrant red berries, blood orange, and wet stones with lively acidity provides immediate appeal, but it drops off quickly and some sour notes interfere before the light tannins kick in. Some earthiness and raspberry fruit follows, but after some mulchy flavors the whole finish fades quickly. Not bad, but not the house's usual standards.
