This was excellent. I grabbed it as a backup when I noticed the ullage on the 1990 Domaine aux Moines Savennières looked too scary. I needed it. The alcohol is list as 15.3 percent. The wine is full bodied, for sure, but balanced. No alcohol showed. It was definitely Rhonish. Nutty and waxy. Also some honey and maybe the sensation of some other sweetness. Fairly explosive on the attack but the finish tapers quickly. This was a good food wine. I grabbed it because I knew Backroads Bob liked Tablas Creek whites. He thinks it was their best grenache blanc.

A lot of petrol (lanolin?) with lemon on the nose. Full bodied, viscous mouthfeel. Seems like a dry Riesling with high alcohol. Flavor intensity isn't very high at this point. Medium low acidity. Finishes with mild heat. High ABV seems to show a bit, but overall an interesting GB showing that Central Coast petrol character.

I disagree that it's been too long. Drank with sashimi dinner. Wonderfully zippy all around, with a hint of malo coming through. It definitely had a sweet spot in terms of temperature - moderately cold and open for about an hour was how I liked it best. Too high alcohol but that didn't make it a much less pleasurable experience for me.

Nose was fresh, vibrant lemon citrus, with lanolin hints. Full bodied and a touch oily. Lemon pulp and ripe, bordering on overripe, apples. A touch of spiciness on the finish. The high alcohol level (15.3%) shows on the palate, and makes the wine less enjoyable.

Solid wine from a very consistent producer. Slightly shy on the nose but some white flowers and minerals, oily texture, good acidity, short crisp finish. Good drinking for a quick glass just coming in from work on a hot day in the PNW.

Straw gold. Nice subtle aromas of pear, golden delicious apples, anise, and minerals with a hint of heat. Broad and almost viscous/oily texture on palate. Minerals, anise, then pears, ripe apples and a bit of grapefruit pits toward the end. Good midpalate. Good length on the finish but then the alcohol heat kicks in. Alcohol really mars it for me. Ok acidity. 15.3% ABV!! Tasted much better on day 3 - more integrated with less heat. Also, either my palate has changed or it isn't showing as well as at the winery when we bought it. After tasting a Cotes du Rhone blanc, a Chateaueneuf blanc, and now this, I don't think Grenache blanc is my thing.

Aromas of citrus and pear follow through to a medium-bodied palate and pick up marzipan, honeysuckle and apple. Has a nice, creamy mouthfeel, but remains fresh with good acidity. More of an "old-world" style than the Curran. A nice food wine.

Tablas Creek should be arrested for this stuff. It's like crack! Seriously, I love this wine. It's not deep or complicated, but it is sooooo good. No adjectives just one recommendation--drink it at 55 or 60 degrees minimum. I like 65+

Fresh tart melon and pommes nose, but rather musky and tropical to taste. Clean, but a little unidimensional, and belying its very high (15.3) alcohol, it had a decent finish, accompanying poached salmon. Tasty and enjoyable, but also perhaps a lesson in why this is grape is usually blended. Second day, the musk is gone, replaced by a pleasant tartness, and a citrus scent, considerably more distinctive!

Grenache Tasting (Brentwood, CA): Aromas of honeycomb, citrus rind, and honeysuckle followed by mineral-laced notes of key lime and vanilla custard. Balanced and refreshing. 89-90 points.

Very light yellow in the glass. Nearly clear. Green apple and peach nose. Palate is cut beautifully with nice acidity, lemon and citrus notes and a blast of pepper that lingers on the finish. Made for summer eves on the patio. Just delicious.

I guess I waited too long. At the winery, 1.5 years ago there was a great freshness to this wine, an amazing apple flavours. Now its just boring.
