Again, a great wine to pair with pizza. Let bottle breathe for 20 mins or so, but did not do any additional aeration. Nice pepper and fruit. Long finish.

dark ruby color, with faint aromas of violets. Very good acidity with low minerality and lots of flat blueberry and dark fruit taste. What makes this wine interesting is the amount of extraction and balance that the wine maker have achieved with not so good grapes that they had. Length is very short but finish is pleasant and balanced. Very good for the price.

Great pizza wine. I preferred it without aeration...it was a little tight this way, but with aeration it became a simplistic mix of fruit, tobacco, and pepper.

Still getting better. 30 minutes in the glass made a huge improvement. Earthy, but not overpowering. Raspberry is the dominate fruit I get both in the nose and across the palate. For under $10, this is hard to beat for a midweek dinner wine. Hints of oak and tobacco on the finish.

Still drinking quite well! has a nice gaminess and smokiness to it with some black cherry still lingering. Most of the tannins have softened leaving a nice big smokey/herbal finish.

Nice garnet plum color. First taste finished with vinegar taste. Second taste was smoke and dark fruit. Fourth taste was dry, boring, with a slightly bitter finish No other outstanding flavors to note. Hot nose, slightly medicinal. Flavor slightly improves with food and nicely accented some whole milk mozzarella. Maybe good with quality pizza?

Colour: deep, bright and intense red (crimson). Nose: fruity, with oak, green pepper and spice. Mouth: medium-body, very balanced and smooth, not so tannic, with fruit, oak and green pepper. Very well integrated and good structure. Short finish. Overall the wine is quite expressive and what is perhaps most remarkable is the pepper and spiciness. Very good to drink now, but will age nicely for 1 or 2 years. Very good value at 7€.

One word...young. Reminded me of a barrel sample. Give it 3 or 4 years and it will settle down. Dark fruit with tobacco, cocoa and maybe some coffee in there. Not real experienced with Carmenere so maybe its just a very tannic wine, but I'm betting it just needs some time to grow up. Don't we all?

This vintage was disappointing. Over-extracted, excess oak, over the top, bitter finish. There are some smoky, chocolate & coffee notes joined by a green bitter finish. With so much make-up, it's impossible to tell if this is carmenere, cabernet or merlot. Over done for my taste. I miss the elegance and balance of prior vintages. What happened Casillero?

3/28/09 Very nice nose, some raspberry and chocolate. Very inviting and focused palate, with blueberry, mocha, raspberry, and a little pipe smoke. Day 2: Excellent, growing in complexity. Still with dark fruits, now with some cinnamon spice. Finish is pretty long, with some mint and menthol. Very nice mouthfeel. Day 3: Still very nice. 88.5

Very vegital on the nose. Hints of fresh cut grass and celery(?!) with a bit of cedar and a hint of oak in there as well. Tight tannins, will probably open up in an hour... Unfortunately I have a cold so other than a bit of oak and vanilla it tastes like...wine! :) Good stuff, great QPR and I'll definitely grab some more.

A bit green and herbal right now. Nice color, deep ruby, clean and bright. Nose was raisin when I first poured, but it changed to more herbal, coffee, and blackberry as it sat in the glass. Still young and would probably show better after 30-40 minutes in the decanter. Good value though. We'll see how it is after a day of Vinvac.

Full bodied. A lot of clove. Young ripe berry fruits. A mouth full of wine. Still too young. I don't think much complexity will show in a later stage, but this wine will definitely improve with a few (2) years of cellaring.

Much better than I expected. Not a lot of fruit but the mocha/sweet spice kept it really interesting. Good, firm tannins and a fairly smooth finish. Good juice. -- I didn't get to the second half of the bottle until three days later. There is more fruit and the wine is still fresh. This wine has cellaring potential. I'm quite impressed. I bet in 3 years this wine will go up in score (for my pallet).

Deep crimson color. Nice legs. Muted nose of spice, stewed blackberries and raw tuna (a good comment). Characteristic of previous Carmenere I have tasted from Chile. Popped and poured. Deep, black cherry hue. Grapey aromas of black fruits and spice (clove maybe?) . Develops aromas of tar and herbaceous notes as it opens. Medium bodied. On the palate, the flavors of black fruits are sharp from acidity and full of grip from the tannins. Mainly fruit, earth and herbs at present. Very youthful, hard to completely assess at this point, needs another 4-8 months in bottle, should be in the 86-88 range.
Interesting to note that an additional label on the capsule proclaims 2007 to be the best vintage from Concha y Toro...

TASTE: Not the best vintage of this favorite wine of ours - it just didn't have the definitive coffee / toffee undertones of past vintages. Perhaps more cellaring will bring our the full potential of the carmenere grape.
SMELL: Not a bad smell, a little understated compared to those past vintages - not as crisp, just more muddled of a smell profile. I'll give it a night to breathe and try again tomorrow.

Not quite as good as their 2007 Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, but a sound, solid, very nice wine for £5. Won't be buying again, but worth the money. No real notes taken.

Had open for a couple of hours. While it smoothed out quite a bit over that time period, it kept a tannic feel on the finish with a slight herbal tinge. Not a bad wine for the production level, good value. There are others I'd rather grab for this price point, though.

Disappointing based on my enjoyment of the 2006 vintage. Pleasing nose with cherries and strong herbaceous aromas, which I generally like. It falls apart in the mouth with an unpleasant finish, however.

A heady nose of dark, dried fruit and bramble leads to savory flavors of milk chocolate, roasted bell pepper, mincemeat, and baking spices, overlain by a dusting of sweek oak and finishing with a shaving of leather. There's a certain green quality, but it's more peppery than vegetal and lends added complexity. It's a mouthfilling wine that has admirable depth of flavor and texture for a $10 high-production product; certainly an outstanding value. A consistent follow-up to the 2006, but not quite as sensual.

For me always a good quaffing wine. Mass produced but with good quality. The 2007 offers a lush, smooth taste with lots of dark, tangy fruit but without any gloopy, tongue coating richness. Medium bodied, good acidity and a nice follow through - some crunchy, green pepper on the mid-palate. This is a superb value wine (5 GBP) that is made for the short term and is well worth a visit. I found it less bitter than previous years and more rounded with reasonable complexity in such a young wine. I just dont know how they churn this stuff out at such a consistent quality at such a low price. For that they must be applauded. Overall good, but when considering the price, very good. Drink within the next year or two.

Strong berries, anise, burnt tobacco, and earth on the nose. Plum and smoke on the palate. Firm tannins, good acidity. Earth on the finish.

Pretty good, but not the 2006 for sure.

Dark color. Rich flavor. Good fruit and tanin, not much oak. A nicely balanced wine, easy to drink. It went nicely with thanksgiving turkey.

Not as good as 2006...but still a solid value wine pick if you're shopping at Trader Joe's.

Disappointing based on my enjoyment of the 2006 vintage. Pleasing nose with cherries and strong herbaceous aromas, which I generally like. It falls apart in the mouth with an unpleasant finish, however.

Did not seem to have the balance & nuance of the prior vintage.
