Holding up pretty good for a 20yr old Simi with good solid cork. Fruity with little to no tannins and good color. Will drink up last one soon as I feel it's just hanging on. Then again mine came from unknown provenance would be interested to hear if owned from release how it's holding up.

Got a few of these from someone clearing out some wines so not sure of storage. Wine is for sure past it's prime but still a drinkable wine. Deep dark garnet with bit of browning on rim. Will try and take more note on next bottle as this was a Pnp 2nd.

Medium garnet red. A bit of red fruit on the nose with sweet spices and prunes. Medium tannins (5/10) and light plus to medium bodied. Definitely at the end with stewed berries, prunes, acidity comes through and a bit earthy. Medium finish. Drink now.

Enjoyable wine. Poured through a vinturi and drank right away. Over the evening, the wine softened a bit. Tannins were still present with just enough fruit. Not sure this will continue to hold the fruit with the tannins. Drink up.

i was very concerned when i opened the bottle and saw the short cork. The first sip made me think the wine had turned, but it actually opened up nicely. Probably a bit past its prime, but long legs, a bit of sweet fruit, and a short finish on the palate.

I must say I truly enjoyed this bottle from my cellar tonight. It was delicious following a run through my Venturi aerator. The nose was beautiful, strong in fruit and oak. It might be just past its prime, but it is a fine wine considering the $17 price I paid 6 or 7 years ago.

This was good, but it never got near the 92-94 that WS gave it. Dark purple in the glass showing no visible signs of aging. Nose of oak and dark fruits. Palate had dark fruits with tannins still showing. Better with food. Drink 'em if you got 'em.

Popped and poured Saturday night, w/friends. Had this along w/an'02 Leasingham Classic Clare shiraz and a Seven Hills '05 Tempranillo, nice nose of cedar and chocolate...one of our guests loved the aroma. Medium to full bodied, I found this to be a little tired, w/not a lot of flavor. Past it's prime, not nearly as good as previous botlles, but still quaffable. Still a solid value/QPR.

This has been cellared since purchase(6 yrs). I mention that because of some of the other review and the condition of the bottle was not in question. I would like to give it a higher score for over acheivement but 90's and above are hard to come by!

Medium red with a hint of bricking. The nose is interesting- from afar (sitting on the table) it lets off a scent of smokey cassis with a little dried cranberry like a mature bordeaux. From near it's got more of the same but a definite green streak, not characteristic of the vineyard or the vintage. It's quite soft in the mouth with decent fruit but a little astringency that I don't attribute to tannin. Nice finish, although it's not terrifically exciting. This was an interesting experiment in aging a wine that probably wasn't meant for aging. The only problem is that I'm not sure what the result was!

A bit "hot" in my opinion and not as good as expected even after aeration. Ok, but not great. Decent fruit and tannins, but alcohol content seems out of balance even when drunk at 55 degrees F. Went well with pot roast (Chateaubriand) but too hot on its own. Not a very good showing especially for this vintage.

After putting it in the cellar for a few years, this wine finally turned into something that's close to WS's rating of 92-94. It's smooth, complex, and very drinkable now. Last time I opened a bottle a couple of years ago, it wasn't that good. But now, I am really enjoying it.

Deep color. Not as complex as some of my favorite cabs but enough to add interest to a $20 bottle of wine. Currant fruit and vanilla on the finish. Meets all my price to value triggers.

Hmmm, my experience seems to be a bit different from the previous posts on this wine. I had low expectations. For a $20 cab, this is a great value. Good spice, dark fruit and tar on the nose, and a surprisingly good bit of allspice and tobacco on the initial taste, followed by good bits of dark red fruit. Not hugely complex, but a great guilt free wine to enjoy.

Nice fruit nose upon opening and settled down just a little over the next hour. I've had these in the cellar about 1.5 years hoping they would mellow down the tannins we tasted in the first bottle. Good CA cab for the money.

Not decanted, drank upon opening. Maturing from its fruit forward tannic youth, showing a bit more elegance and varies flavors. Very nice, not sure how much more this will evolve, though.

Did not decant. Out of the bottle this was showing almost nothing- very thin, dilute... Dark ruby color - did not look like a Cab. After about an hour in the glass, this gained a bit of weight and showed a bit of cassis and smoke. Not impressed.

A bit of a disappointment given the excellent 01 Simi Landslide Cab. Perfectly good, but nothing special here. Some dark notes, but not enough to make me buy again. The bottle may have been suspect, a display bottle I found that was exposed to sunlight. Had not 'gone bad' though.

Opened and decanted for an hour, then drank over a couple of hours with a rack of lamb. Went very well with the lamb. The tannins are soft right now and the wine feels fairly rich and full on the palate. I think this is the time for this wine.

Needs some time in the decanter. It's good on the first day, but sort of unapproachable. It improves with 12-24 hours in the decanter - more fruit, less tannin, more balance. For the money, I liked it - but I preferred the Sebastiani 2001 Alexander Valley Cabernet.

Subdued nose of cassis and plums. Tight angular tannins, and moderate levels of fruit. The tannin really dominates here, holding the fruit back. Medium body. It got much better by the last glass, but by that point I had consumed most of the bottle. Either needs some cellaring or a few hours in a decanter.

Good, not great, after warming to room temperature and getting some air.

After putting it in the cellar for a few years, this wine finally turned into something that's close to WS's rating of 92-94.
It's smooth, complex, and very drinkable now. Last time I opened a bottle a couple of years ago, it wasn't that good.
But now, I am really enjoying it.

Enjoyed one of four bottles in cellar with Chateaubriand. Opened bottle and drank immediatley. Very smooth and nice body for a wine at such a value price.

Decanted for 2 hours. Aromas of cherry and dark fruit. Tannins have mellowed and drinking well right now. Very good but probably reached a point it will be as good as it's going to get.

Opened not decanted. This has hit its stride and is tasting really well right now. The tanins have calmed down and it's an integrated wine. I killed about a half bottle with a NY steak. Good combination!

Good wine for the price. Dark fruits dominate with well integrated oak. 88 points.

[Pesto pizza] Aromas, of plum and cedar. On the palate, red fruit, cedar, dill; mild tannins. Ok but no reason to buy this when you can get Landslide for a couple of more bucks.

Opened but not decanted.
Purple maroon color, sweet and sourcherry / berry. Not as tannic as the last bottle.

Not decanted; poured from bottle.
Plum colored with under-ripe cherry flavor with slight whiff of elevated alcohol (but not overpowering or out of balence). Sweet fruit with sour tannic finish.

A very french/bordeux nose. Lots of clean cedar and plum. A wine that has a good future.

With Maria and Tom at Athena, drank from open bottle to complete in 20 minutes, decanting or opened for 45 minutes would be better, great Cab flavors, rich, very good not exceptional, next time aerate then drink.
