Middle of the road Champagne. Not too sweet, which was my concern based on some notes here. Typically 9 g/l is much higher dosage than I prefer but this carried it well enough. Nothing too exciting, but at $20 locally I will likely grab a few more for the holidays.

An all-around drinkable, enjoyable Champagne. Not super complex, but well-balanced. It does gain complexity when aged 5-10 years in a magnum, but it's hard to let this sit around.

On a quest to try out all of the sub $30 Champagne from K&L, and this was the one of the cheapest at $24.99/btl. No discernible disgorgement date anywhere on the bottle.
Pours a pale straw with a few fine bubbles. Medium to faint nose of buttered croissant, caramelized apples and pears, and some floral elements. Medium heavy bodied, fairly acidic, and more sweetness than I was expecting. Palate of pears, apples, yeast, and a bit of citrus peel. The finish is long with lemon oil, lemon pith. But then peach pit clash with the pleasant lemon elements. At the very end of the finish, overtoasted hazelnut and bread show up and stay past their welcome.
The finish is what turns me off and drives my score down. Seems sweeter than what I would expect for a 9g/l dosage. While not bad for $25, it's not something I'd grab again.

pre-holidays Champagne tasting (K&L Redwood City): light gold colour with pretty bubbles. pleasant nose of white peach, brioche and subtle floral notes. in the mouth it feels substantial and yeasty with tart apple and citric notes. felt a little more tart than the reported dosage would lead one to think.
good all-round champagne for toasting, appetisers and the like. won't knock anybody's socks off, but won't offend anyone either.

Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. Nice yeastiness with sour dough up front, lemon and apple peel, with a little toasted hazelnut. The palate is fuller bodied, tart, lemon, apple, apple, chalk, and spice. Very enjoyable with a nice balance of minerality and fruit, and it is a very solid value. Also was a big upgrade from a rather good Prosecco in our mimosa's earlier in the day.

Nice wine in the light and floral mode. Rather lighter color, but I thought it had a tinge of orange or rose to it. Initial nose of slight yeast and biscuits and a floral note or hint of strawberries. Then, Jordan Almonds. The palate follows along the same lines, being light, definitely not too sweet and floral with a hint of strawberries. Clean. An impressive mousse initially but not one that is dense or terribly persistent. Easy drinker. Pair with light pupus, maybe some poke. Good value.

Pretty sure I haven’t had a better bottle of Champange at $24.99 and even some higher.
The nose reveals; bruised green apple & Bosc pear, lemon meringue, overripe & slightly sour pineapple, lime zest, nougat, vanillin, soft honeycomb, oysters, sea spray, baguette crust, grey volcanic, pleasant chalkiness, whiffs of herbaceousiness, spring flowers, mixed greens and yellow lilies.
The entry is clean, fresh, rich and lively. Bruised green apple & Bosc pear, lemon meringue, golden apple, overripe & slightly sour pineapple, lime zest, nougat, vanillin, caramel, soft honeycomb, sea fossils & spray, baguette crust, nice white spice with some palate heat, grey volcanic, pleasant chalkiness, whiffs of herbaceousiness, spring flowers, mixed greens and yellow lilies. Crisp lively acidity. The finish is refreshingly delicious, well balanced, good, seamless, delineation, nice polish and persists with spice for several minutes on the long set.

Still absolutely one of the best Champagnes at $24.99 and slightly higher price points.
Bright lemon, lemon curd, lime zest, pineapple, bruised pear, cream soda, notes of wood, brioche, light herbaceous notes, volcanic minerals, sea shells & spray, jasmine, spring flowers, Juniper, very lively acidity and a delicious, well polished finish.
As a digestif after a night of nice red wine; golden apple, golden raisins, pineapple, bruised Bosc pear, Juniper, brioche, cream soda, touch of caramel, gray volcanic minerals, sea spray & fossils.
If you start with Champagne, save some for the end of the night after red wine. You’ll be glad you did. Changes the profile, intensity and pleasure dramatically. Night & day!!!

The images aren’t flashy like Krug, Billecart or Ruinart etc. but, if you want a really nice, well priced Blanc de Blanc Champagne, this is for you. At, $24.99, I would challenge anyone to find another Champagne let alone a good one at this price point. As well, an equal Cremant or sparking wine in the same price range. Exceptional QPR here!
The nose is bright and fresh. Crisp green apple, lighter color citrus, overripe pineapple, orange peel and spray, touch of golden apple, touch of bruised pear, ginger notes, vanilla cream soda, caramel notes, spice, hints of baguette crust, honey, darker minerals with chalk, sea spray, fruit blossoms and withering yellow lilies.
The wine brings rich, reductive freshness and substantial acidity to your palate. Crisp green apple, lighter color citrus, overripe pineapple, orange peel and spray, under ripe green melon, touch of golden apple, light bruised pear, ginger notes, vanilla cream soda, caramel notes, marzipan, white spice, hints of baguette crust, honey, darker minerals that press the palate deeply with teeth & heat, nice chalkiness, sea spray, fruit blossoms with withering yellow lilies. The finish is quite nice with richness and goes on and on and on.

WS Grand Tour in NYC (Marriott Marquis): The only champange at the event that I wasn't familiar with so figured it was worth a try. The unique calling card of this champagne is the effort at using as much Pinot Meunier as possible. All estate fruit. This seems to lend it almost a green herbal note. A more basic set of bubbles. Good, not great.

Very nice champagne at a great price point. Slightly sweet entry, but not a cremant, though it may remind you of one. Clean, crisp with tight bubbles. Bright with a little toasty flavor but not overbearing or overwhelming. This goes down very easy with friends and a Sunday brunch......

The guys who scored this in the 50-60pts range are either used to drinking Krug on a daily basis or they got some bad bottles and should have taken them back for a refund. This wine has been solid over several years. Never disappointing, never excellent, but always easily drinkable and enjoyable...(unless the bottle was corked or flawed). This is one of my go to value champagnes.

More than a year after my first note on this Champagne, three truths have emerged. First, it's much better from 750 than from 375 (duh, right)? Second, the explosive nose has tamed to a plummy savor. Third, it's the most gulpable Champagne around, with luscious fruit throbbing across the palate. Not the choice for caviar, but great with anything from flounder to veal.

It is the time of year to return to the drinking of Champagne, though in truth this should be a year-round enterprise. So far my one and only purchase from Acker, aside from the auction biz. I think the price is pretty sporting for what it is, which is a reliable, and better-than-average representation of the marque. Slightly yeasty on the nose (of course), citrus and mineral. Decent if not awesome but also note the price.

Opened by Allred. This negociant owns 90 acres and buys grapes from another 90 acres. 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir aged for 3 years before release. 10 g/ltr of sugar. Notes of apple and dough. This was a little flabby on the finish for my palate. 86 points.

K&L Champagne Tasting (K&L): Pale straw. Autolysis: some baguette interior, but very much on the side of yeast / LB broth / marmite. Slight green apple character - semi-baked. Light sweetness, but not a notable dosage. In the mouth, fresh green apple, properly strong acidity (mostly tart/malic), and rather coarse bubbles. Score: between 7.5 and 8. $24
60% Meunier, 30% Chard, 10% Pinot. Steel fermentation with 100% malo [this is surprising to me given the extreme tartness of the acid character - tart vs. long]

The most penetrating nose of any Champagne I have smelled, irrespective of price -- it simply takes your head off! On the palate, the high Meunier content provides a rich fruit depth. Not what you would call refined, but not boring either, in the manner of a dozen mid-level Champagnes (grower wines included) I could name. Rarely seen, and a steal at the price.

Excited to try this first purchase from Acker other than by auction, and so plucked one right out of the box. The shipping temperature was such that it was almost perfect for pouring. Pale yellow color, very lively bead but subsides to provide persistent stream of bubbles. I particularly liked the nose, complex and nuanced with moderate toast and floral notes. Moderate weight on the palate, citrus and mineral finish. Excellent value; the industrial producers could take notes.

A blend of Pinot Meunier (60%), Chardonnay (30%) and Pinot Noir (10%). The cuvée includes base wine (60%) with reserve wines aged for a vintage back (30%) and two vintages back (10%). Aged on the lees for a minimum three years.
Medium-deep lemon yellow color. The nose is dominted by aromas of ripe apples and hints of yellow fruits with underlying nuances of sur lie yeastiness and some bread straight from the oven. On the palate the wine is dry but not bone-dry (12 g/l RS); the dosage makes the wine appear rather full-bodied, masking the acidity slightly. Flavors of apples, lemon peel, some yeasty autolysis and hints of steely minerality. The mousse is fine, but rather mild and dissipates moderately fast. The finish is rather straightforward with flavors of green apples and French bread, although a hint of chalky mineral bitterness emerges towards the end of the aftertaste.
Albeit being somewhat simple an effort, this is still an enjoyable, tasty and balanced basic-level Champagne with good QPR at 15,52€ for a half bottle. A reliable choice whenever a half bottle of decent Champagne is needed. No need to let this one age, I suppose this one is best while young.

initial aromas of toast with orange marmalade, and orange chicken dominate and then fade into the background. some orange soda on the palate that dries up and turns to minerals on the finish. I don't particularly like champagnes that finish with a citrus aftertaste, but this one transitions from citrus to mineral at the perfect time. For the price, this is a unique alternative to other entry level offerings from Veuve, and Moet, without venturing into the more complex and potentially polarizing rich notes of the heavier houses like bollinger, krug, heidsieck.
Day 2: still going strong, the bubbles are intense immediately after pouring but dissipate quickly leaving a balanced level of carbonation. The orange/grand marnier notes give the impression of a richer style champagne, yet the palate and finish are decidedly mineral but not extreme. This is a middle ground crowd pleaser, and while I don't think it is the best champagne I've had under $40, I would much prefer this over the $40 grocery store Champagnes like Veuve and Moet.

Aromas of citrus, toast, orchard fruit and chalky minerality. Nicely balanced with a slight creaminess to it. Shows plenty of toasty notes on the palate probably due to some older vintages in the blend. Quite nice for the price. 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir. 10 g/l dosage.

Popped and poured from a half bottle, served chilled. Color: Light Yellow. Nose: Toast, Lemon Peel, Dried Raisins, Orange Peel. Palate: see nose. Finish: Medium. Acidity: Medium. Alcohol: 12.5 % well integrated. Refreshing and lively light mouthfeel with plenty of toast and beautiful lemon peel. The freshness carries on to the acidic medium finish. Reminds me a little bit of Veuve Clicquot's non vintage offering. Decent value at €14 for a half bottle. 88-89 points.

Ripe appley fruit, nice nutty autolysis notes and quite a touch of dosage sweetness. Dry but round with a lovely moussé and carriying acidity. Ripe fruit, chalky minerality and so on. Toffeeish nuances get too heavy here and then. Medium length finish with citrusy bitterness. Good QPR - but a bit on the sweet side to truly be versatile. A lovely wine anyway.

A half bottle, enjoyed while watching Bourne Identity. This was for a change a champagne that could instantly be recognized as one. Very much dominated by flavors created by the sur lie, this was a nice surprise in the mostly overpriced and narrow champagne selection of our monopoly. At 13,99 € this offers pretty good value for money, and I will probably buy again.

Popped and poured. Pale, yellow-gold hue, fine mouse. Nose of biscuit, golden delicious apple, and just a touch of a floral note. Medium body. Very nice champagne at a great price point. Slightly sweet entry, but not a cremant, though it may remind you of one. Clean, crisp with tight bubbles. Bright with a little toasty flavor but not overbearing or overwhelming. This goes down very easy with friends and a Sunday brunch......

Superb. Toast, minerality, citrus, florals, elegant and sublime, a definite repeat.

This was a very nice dry champagne. A good amount of grapefruit and citrus.
The wine looks blonde colored. It smells like grapefruit and lemon. It tastes like grapefruit. The body is medium. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Yeast, lemon, orange and minerals on the nose. Pear, citrus and dough on the palate. Nice, creamy streamers. Lively, acidic mouth feel that revved up our appetites. Definitely recommended as a fine aperitif for the price.

Honeyed biscuit and marcona almonds with green apple and grapefruit. Very carbonated. Felt thin but for the carbonation. Surprisingly, I tasted alcohol on the finish. Not bad but I can't remember tasting any champagne that I liked less.

86 points.

Simple with sweet apple fruit quality on the nose and palate. Find bead with a decent finish, if a bit short. Nothing wrong with it but it's not very exciting either.

Served from Magnum at Brimmer & Heeltap in Seattle. Light, clear gold. Fruity nose w/ a little spice. Straightforward, good Champagne with a fruity mix of pear & citrus. Finish is on the short side, but refreshing & tasty.

From 375. Toasty nose. Straightforward palate of tart green apple. Not much toastiness on the palate and a touch more residual sugar than I prefer. Still a nice value Champagne.

Delicious fresh nose of citrus, minerals and creamy toast. Rich and soft mouthfilling mousse. Medium bodied and fairly well structured despite a somewhat short finish. On the palate the wine is flavor-wise very much the same as on the nose. Not a very complex wine but definitely delicious and enjoyable.

On the palate their is a good expression of ripe fruit while still managing to finish with little sweetness. Medium acidity. Although slightly simple this is still quite tasty and a relative QPR in the world of Champagne.
