Red & black cherries alongside underbrush throughout, with some anise & pepper showing up on occasion. Finish felt dusty & drying; reminds me of what i expect from mountain fruit. Tasty and has held up nicely, but hasn't really picked up complexity since release (just looked at my review 5 years ago...very similar. Rubber cork perhaps = little/no aging?). I might have guessed cru Beaujolais blind

On the nose there's stewed rhubarb, sandalwood, old green pepper, slight oxidative note, grapey ~ Palate is medium bodied with moderate tannins & acids with flavors of black cherry, bitter black liquorice, vanilla & a bit of pepper ~ A decent, good value bottle of wine & a fair representation of the grape & the region

Light colour concentration with ruby colour. aromas of wood, berries and some black tea like quality. Wine has medium acids, soft tannins, and a cherry like flavour. Tasty quaffer!

Red in the glass with floral aromas that open up to red fruits and a little spice. Finishes with a bit of minerality that makes it a good weekday drinker.

Deep ruby core, pinkish rim, long legs. On nose, black cherry, blackberry, plum, jammy, hint of oak, medium intensity, On palate, dry, lively acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium body, medium length, low tannin, flavour profile similar to the nose. Easy to drink, well-balanced if somewhat lack of complexity and structure. Drink now, can hold for a year or two, but won't improve. Food pairing: BBQ, tomato-based pasta source. Smiliar style wines: Casa Castillo (Jumilla), Castano Hecula Monastrell (Yecla) - my favourite and probably a better buy.

Excellent, amazing value, probably the best QPR of the past 2 years in our household - Dark, well concentrated with a nose of black cherry, plum, meat and vanilla, nicely made, very balanced, good structure, interesting, smooth/dry on the palate with very good length, excellent! (90 Points).

Ruby colour with hints of purple. On the nose, alcohol, cassis, vanilla and chocolate. Flavour -- the wine is medium bodied with an almost watery character with the primary flavours being overshadowed somewhat by the heat of alcohol with less pronounced flavours of cassis/cherry, chocolate and notes of vanilla. Not a real finish to speak of. Mostly the alcohol heat is what stays in the mouth. This wine is pretty easy to drink, has really pleasant flavours and a nice QPR if you are looking for an acceptable old world wine (ie. not a fruit bomb, and not fruit-juicy at all) to drink on an average weeknight.

Jammy nose showing blackberry, vanilla, plum, spice. Palate more of the same. Thin, too much oak, midpalate is a hole. Weird, earthy & bitter finish with a bit of heat. 81 is probably generous, this is overdone and out of balance. $10

My bottles have been extremely inconsistent, ranging from not drinkable to great. Considering the price, this is a great bottle. Nice ripe black and red fruits supported by strong caramel notes on the nose and palate. Light, nicely resolved tannins allow for a smooth, albeit short finish. Very drinkable.
Drink now. 87 -JRS

Deep ruby in color. Bright nose of cherry, medium bodied and juicy on the palate. Good acid/tannin balance on the finish with a bit of alcohol that lingers warm and smooth. Still a great value, but lacking some of the punch I recall from prior vintages.

I like the sweaty sock on the nose, that comes with granadine or pomegranate aromas, very infrequent type aromas. Also fresh and vibrant fruit enters the palate, with some complexity of subtle leather and bacon fat, and a finish that shows structure and smoked wet cedar box. Kind of an odd flavor profile, very easy drinking upon entrance, with a nice fruity profile, and a food demanding exit with structure, wood, green pepper, and other more complex flavors. Actually very smoky on the finish. Good QPR; but not necessarily a pleasant profile. I had this wine with pizza. Did well.

This started out almost like a barrel sample but after 30 minutes of air gained in weight, integration and complexity. Aromas of red cherries, mocha and spicy oak. Rich but fairly simple fruit in the mouth with good structure and length. Could get better with a bit more time but a great value.

I like it, probably even better than last year's (IIRC this is more approachable). Through the Vinturi into a decanter for an hour+ before drinking. Didn't really geek out on it for another couple of hours. Had with thin veal & a small porkchop alongside tomato-based sauce.
Nose of dark blackberry / black raspberry jam, raspberry liqueur, and a little dry / twiggy underbrush (just something made me think 'raw' or 'dusty'). Tastes of dense dark fruit, with a great viscous texture that doesn't get too heavy. Dust, spice, & a twinge of oak tones show up with the great dark fruit finish that has firm structure, notable tannins, and overall nice balance & length.

Dark rich color. Nose: Leather, black cherry and raspberry. Taste: Flavors of sour black cherry, red cherry and raspberry. Leather as well. Nicely balanced with good acidity. Tannins are present in the background. Medium length finish. Not a great wine but for $10.00, a good value.

Aromas of black berries, chocolate and cedar. Sour cherry blackberry upfront. Earthy on the mid-palette. Finished with black tea and a little chocolate. Nice and complex for a $10 wine. Matched perfectly with our BBQ seitan with roasted red skin potatoes and rainbow chard.

I was a bit disappointed with this. I've liked it in previous vintages, so could be an off-bottle or off-night for my tastebuds, but this was pretty boring. Some plummy fruit and slightly spicy wood, but not much depth. Could have done worse for the price, but also better.

Respi-Aerate to decanter, vigorous swirl, immediate serve. Color dark red with purple hues, medium body. Initial nose not unlike other Jumilla reds favored by JM, with creosote, scorched earth, black cherry and black plum. Taste is an unrefined display of overbaked black fruit, with tar, oak, alcohol and dirt in the finish. Really not that pleasant to drink, so I was in no hurry to finish the first glass. In coming back to it a couple hours later there is more rich dark cherries and spice in the nose and mouth to enjoy, and from there is my score. Fairly concentrated, medium acidity, rather coarse texture, somewhat bitter tannins, overall length 15-20s. Day 2 it has held together pretty well, with fruit slightly oxidized and showing more earthy characteristics in the midpalate and finish. Overall this performed at a 10 dollar price point, which was OK. It's the 91 score that I don't see, either for day 1 or day 2.

Mega QPR alert: For $8.99 (at Wine Discount Center), you get a fascinating, balanced, cotes du rhone style wine with great complexity. Upfront this shows a really subtle but exotic spice profile (I thought I detected a hint of curry powder) along with strawberries and chocolate. Nice finish.
