The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry with a subtle note of strawberry. It tastes like cherry and strawberry with a dash of spice. The body is light. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes short but seems to come back with cherry notes. The wine has low acidity. Certainly has past it's peak.

My last bottle of this, and I must say it has held up surprisingly well. Starting to look its age in the glass, with some bricking and amber around the edge. The strawberry and cherry fruit has faded a bit, but spice and cola notes lead to a long finish where traces of sweet fruit still kick in at the very end. Complex and enjoyable. Not quite outstanding, but noticeably better than any other Central Coast Pinot I've ever had from this producer. 50+5+11+15+7=88

Consistent with my previous note from earlier this year. Very, very good for an under $20 Central Coast Cali Pinot. A nicely balanced combination of strawberry and pomegranate fruit with a pleasant underlying acidity. The long, polished finish contains notes of cola, spice and a slightly chalky minerality. By far the best vintage of this I have tasted to date. Almost 90 points this time. 89+ 50+5+12+15+7=89

I am generally not a big fan of mass produced California Pinot Noir, but this is a very good one. Such a nice nose of berries, spice, flowers and earth. On the palate this is quite complex - full of ripe, sweet strawberry and raspberry flavors along with lots of spice and a touch of oak. There's just enough acidity to keep it lively too. Really delicious and by far the best wine under $20 I have ever had from this producer. 50+5+12+15+7=89

Better than I was expecting. An excellent nose but the flavor was indicative of the price point. That budget grape juice flavor is present but I've had worst. A great value at $15.

color: lighter purple & a little red; nose: just a hint of candied strawberries; taste: thin cinnamon-tangy mouth feel, pleasing strawberry fruit finish of short-medium duration (wine's best feature); overall: balanced and complete, gets off to a slow start but picks up at the end, probably would be a good pour at Thanksgiving for those who relish PNs

Started with strong aromas of cola, earth (like wet loam or a terrarium), and a little raspberry. Tastes about the same. Rich mouthfeel, short finish. Simple and pleasant, nothing more (which isn't a bad thing). Will buy a little more if the price is right. After a little more air, some sweetness kicked in, which was a little cloying. Day 2, the sweetness toned down, and this was the best balanced. (Day 3, this wine kind of fell apart. Picked up aromas of eucalyptus, moss, and maybe a plastic toy. The fruit seemed thinner. Next time, will drink faster. :-) 86-87

Strands of red fruit and light oak are accompanied by taut acidity and a bead of minerality. It started out tight but fanned out nicely on the second day. A bit like a lower-end Burgundy, but with sweeter fruit. I can see complaints that this wine feels a bit artificial -- it's huge-production -- but for a "grocery store" pinot at $15 it's a very nice value.

Limited aromatically and lacking CA Pinot Noir traits I'm looking for like strawberries and spice. Fake fruit sweetness on the palate with odd bitter flavors I found off-putting. Not good.

Popped and poored. Thin short nose but with a bit of tart cherry and forest floor. Purplish cranberry color. Light medium body with tart cherry with more tangy or zesty cranberry fruit with an almost effervescent quality at first. With time, more of the forest floor and earth evident in the nose came thru. The finish was short and clean with young fruit at first but in time got better and just a bit more complex with some slate like mineral and medium tannin. I was skeptical of this one before trying it but was won over and am thinking about getting more to hold hoping the complexity potential is there. Relatively simple but better than the vast majority of Pinots at this price, certainly I liked it better than the Cambria 2007. Not overly acidic or tannic.
Late note: After a couple hours it turned sweeter and wan't quite as nice.

Very translucent, with a deep red color. Not purple. Cherry, red berries present, but not overpowering. Just a bit of earthiness. Definitely not to be confused with a burgundy, but still a really nice offering from Susan Doyle, winemaker at MacMurray Ranch.

Very prominent, almost searing acidity. Some pleasant raspberry notes behind that, but at first it was overwhelmed by the acidity. The wine fell into better balance maybe 30-40 minutes after opening, but still was never really all that impressive. Nice absence of oak.

As a pinot noir, the MacMurray started excessively fruity and overbearing that hid the delicacy of the pinot grape. Over 30 minutes, this mellowed out a bit but never achieved any consistent pinot flavors.
