This was delightful after an hour of air. Deep and dark for a cab franc, with more floral notes than green pepper and sweet, largely resolved tannins. Ready to go but no rush.

The weight of this is in between new world and the Loire. I could see this going either way depending on the context. Either way, pleasant but not extraordinary. Tannins were resolved, lots of sediment. Time to finish them.

Great spot - luscious red fruits, acidity intact, tannins sweet and integrated. Alcohol, acidity, and fruit in balance. Tasted side by side with 2016 Olga Raffault Chinon- a wonderful contrast of Old World (bereft of green or vegetal notes) and New World (green spiced and slightly more savory), though both were lush and warm.

Soft, elegant and almost perfectly balanced with developed tannins offset by bracing acidity. Black fruit notes. Only reason it is not even more highly rated is that it comes across as a bit light on the mid-palate. (Yes, I see my previous extolling of the mid-palate. Go figger.)

Moderate plus aromatics, deep staining- some pink florality and ripe fruits. Loads of baked red fruit, baked cherry pie, potting soil, ripe tannins, soft acidity, moderate alcohol, finishing dry. Gulpable for its medium body and affability.

From Magnum. Opened on new years eve as a pop and pour, it was best after it had 30 minutes to open up. The tannin was fully resolved and what was left was soft and supple dark berries and mocha. I normally do not hold Pride Cab Franc this long, but from magnum it was still very enjoyable.

Soft and supple, with a medium-bodied velvety texture. Muted mocha, not very berry-like; more like a light chocolate with fruit in the background. Gets lighter on the finish, so roll it around in your mouth a bit before swallowing; it's best on the mid-palate.

Decanted one hour. Excellent enveloping nose of red fruit, roses, and spice. The wine is very pure and ripe with flavors of red and black currant, herbs and spices. There is very little to no Cab Franc green character here but there are some nice earthy notes. Medium bodied, suave and delicious this is at full maturity but I think can continue to age gracefully. Really a pleasant surprise.

Purchased at winery and stored since release. You have to let this breathe. An injustice to even take a sip before it’s had 2 hrs of air. Upon opening, it was disjointed with prominent acidity and a prune/raisin note that had me worried. The last sip was the best, a glorious and fragrant CF that reminded me why I love this wine.

There was a strong herbal component that receded after 60-90 minutes of air, which also rounded it out. I didn't notice the mocha notes that others have. Will give this more time next time.

Took to a party, so no detailed notes. It was unanimously the WOTN out of 20 or 30 bottles. Perfectly balanced and delicious. Amazingly complex - I lost count of everything that was going on, and each sip seemed to reveal more. Holding up just fine at this point.

Same as a previous bottle a few months ago, flat-out delicious. All kinds of dark cherries, vanilla, etc. Very rich, with an excellent finish. Not sure about it as a "food wine", but by itself, it's terrific. Holding up very well, with no signs of age.

Just delicious. Dark cherries on the nose. Same cherries on the palate, along with creaminess, vanilla, spice cake, and God-only-knows what else. Rich and plush, with a long, rich finish. I stopped buying this a couple years ago. What was I thinking?

Nice wine. Very smooth, but also light on the acid, making it rather flat on the and dull. Just missing something in spite of its floral berry flavors.

I'll use the adjective interesting to describe this wine. I'll preface my commentary by stating that I rarely find a new world Cab Franc that I really enjoy drinking and that I find Pride's suite of wines, in general, too ripe for my palate. This wine is an exception to both experiences.
Dark cherry-purple color. The nose grabs you immediately with cinnamon and baking spices, plums and ripe black cherries follow with a little semi-sweet chocolate wrapped around gingerbread. Imagine yourself in an old European bakery around Christmas time. Just an intoxicating nose and unique.
Ripe plums and berries on the palate but, similar to the nose, there is also a wrapping of something baked (and a little gooey) with layer upon layer of spice. The acidity gives the wine great balance and there is an almost powdered mocha component on the finish that cuts through the ripe fruit.
A very enjoyable wine that is uniquely interesting.

Pure deliciousness. Great fruit, integrated tannins...drinking beautifully. Lots of spice (nutmeg, cloves??) and a long finish; unique. Why do I not drink these more often? Gives lie to the Cab Franc usefulness as only a blending grape. Kudos to Pride.

This is one amazing Cab Franc that is getting better with age. Wonderful nose of crushed berries and taste profile of dark fruit that is layered and concentrated. Terrific complexity with notes of lavender, licorice, dark chocolate and a measured spicy finish that is smooth and delicious.

Very smooth with silky mouthfeel. Chocolate and red fruits dominate this vintage. Shorter finish then I would have expected but when you have the whole bottle to yourself, who cares??? I am really starting to think that Pride's cab franc is their best bottling. I can think of only one other winery (Courgar Crest) that turns out such stunning cab franc. Luckily, pride releases one every year.

this gets better every time - best pure Cab Franc I've tasted in CA - the '07 is so rich and beautiful it's hard to describe. Somewhat spicy with lots of coffee/mocha flavors. Fantastic!
Still one of our favorite Cab Franc's from Napa, but either in a slightly dumb phase, or perhaps fading a bit. Not quite as intenense fruit as we're used to with this one. No sign of bricking, but the tannins seemed to be on sliding away, after about a gently 45 minute decant.

Decanted through a Vinturi 4 hours before tasting. Nice nose of herb tinged red/black fruit which follows through directly onto the palate. Dusty sensation envelopes an impressive core with an intellectual array of flavors. The breed of wine which does not encourage a hug, rather evokes a salute.

Popped and poured, medium-plus purple/garnet hue. Forward aromas of blueberries, blackberry jam, mint chutney, vanilla bean, crushed stones and toast from oak. Medium-plus body. Oodles of fruit on the palate...think black raspberry, black cherry, black currant, and ripe mountain fruits combined with a nervy, earth-laden herbaceous flavor plus tobacco, anise, and vanilla-spice from toasted oak. The tannins are chewy and slightly astringent on the lengthy close. Just a great wine and one which will age nicely for many more years.

Decanted for about an hour and a half, then drank over the next 3 hours. Drank with grilled chicken, which definitely wasn't the best match, as this wine has some heft to it. Strong aroma of tobacco, licorice and dark berries. Taste has chocolate, coffee and blackberry. There is a bit of tartness on the finish as well. It has qutie a bit of tannin, even after some time in the decanter, and this wine clearly needs another year or two before being drank in its ideal window. Still an enjoyable wine and got to see its potential.

Just drank my 3rd bottle and each one has been better than the last. Fortunately have 3 more to go. Decanting is advised as there is lots of sediment. BTW, Decanted bottle #2 for 24 hours and it was a completely different wine and a real treat also.

Popped and poured. Medium-plus dark ruby hue. Forward nose of blackberry, currant, cigar box, cedar, and a multitude of herbaceous notes. Certainly gaining in complexity. Medium-plus body. On the palate, the fruit is still forward but the oak is much more integrated, allowing the Cabernet Franc elements of herbs, tobacco leaf, and hints of menthol to shine and work in harmony with the spicy oak. The tannins are still a touch astringent on the plus finish. A winner from Pride in the 2007 vintage, this simply outstanding Cabernet Franc and should continue to age nicely over the short to medium term. It's also worth noting that this one is already throwing a bit of sediment so decanting might be recommended.

Decanted 2 hours and threw a ton of sediment. Floral & cedar aromas with a 20 second cherry, blackberry, and mocha finish. Light on its feet with an acidic prominance that renders it food friendly without coming off unbalanced. Served with delmonico steaks while wathcing the Blackhawks clinch the western conference. I recommend being more adventurous with your pairing as this is more of a finesse wine than a steak opponent. Outstanding...should even improve.

Almost dark ruby color. Very aromatic nose after about an hour in the decanter showing black fruit and a hint of coconut. Medium body in the mouth with very structured notes of the black currant, black raspberry bell pepper, and a hit of spice at the finish. Elegant and easy to drink. Excellent effort.

Clear ruby-garnet in color. Dusty cherry on nose, with some other herbal notes. Palate was developed, acidic, with moderate soft tannins. More of a blue fruit quallity to the taste but not overbearing sweetness. A little mocha and earthiness to boot. Long finish. Part of an 8-wine CF tasting where it placed 3rd behind an Hourglass Blueline and a Maya.

Popped and poured. Medium-plus ruby hue. Quite aromatic as soon as the cork is removed, with forward aromas of blackberry, black cherry, brown sugar (a note often encountered in Pride Cabernet Franc), herbs, and heat from alcohol. After about 2 hours the nose expands and the more herbaceous elements appear, with notes of spicy mint, anise, and a hint of menthol. Medium-plus body. Plush and round in mouth with excellent structure, the flavors of ripened black fruits wrapped nicely in complex, herbaceous notes with a touch of bell pepper. Tannins are fine grained and slightly astringent on the plus finish. No harm in opening now, in fact, this is quite enjoyable if you like 'em young...however, it should be singing after 1-2 years in cellar. 92+

Barrel sample. Dark ruby in the glass with a vegetal nose. Green pepper, cracked black pepper, boysenberry, earth, candied raspberry, cream and toasty oak. Medium + bodied with a 1+ minute finish. The structure is superb, as is the mouthfeel, acidity and balance. Everything is in its place - it just needs some time. (92)

We had a bottle of this a few months and it continues to excel!! The other tasting notes that have been posted "capture" the wine. We just ordered some more of the cab franc!

Our opinion is similar to the other tasting notes that have been posted. The wine was fantastic...filled with flavor, fruit and lovely spices. Great body...you can't go wrong with wines from Pride!!

still very young. A bit tannic but not hot at all. Really deep milk chocolate and bright cherry, blueberry, and currant. well balanced with a mouth coating mid palate and bakers spice on the finish

Picked the wrong vintage to drink - this will last many years yet. Fabulous right now though. Very powerful, nicely integrated already, herby, tobacco and spice.

Dark purple color. What a nose of blueberry, white pepper and blackberry. Medium body with much finesse, ready to drink now but will keep going for a few years. 45 second finish

Dark and dense at first, but then this opened up the whole barrel of yummy. Blueberry fruit, floral nose and beautiful finish with spice and earth. Fine tannic structure but well integrated with sweet fruit.

Best Cab Franc i've ever had--lush with red berries--very fruity and jammy--just a great great wine. Reminded me of our trip to the winery and the amazing tour/tasting we had there. GREAT wine and stood up to the ribeyes
