From 375. Drank during a broad pinot phase, mostly California. This doesn't quite measure up to mid to high end Cal pinots. Good but a bit tart/acidic for my tastes. Not at all over the hill, but don't think it's getting any better.

A bit inelegant? Sure. But personally I didn’t find this to be thin or short. Very earthy, and definitely showing the ferrous streak mentioned below, with plenty of pleasant black cherry fruit. Nicely open and in a good spot, though it can certainly go longer.

PopnPour, tasted over 1 hr, from 375 mL -minimal bricking -reticent faded earthy dark fruit and an interesting citrus element -med/med+ acidity gives a brisk edge to the similarly dark fruit iron and citrusy palate that is more expressive than the nose and accompanied by a pixy stix-like candied dried cherry aspect, med somewhat coarse tannins -really quite decent with some burly NSG typicity, probably in a prime drinking window now but even in this format should have several years before significant decline

Day 1: Thin/short. Red fruit, iron, on the flat side. Decent acidity, a bit leaden. Worked with food but uninteresting and inelegant otherwise. Day 2: Really quite nice for a villages -- red fruit has filled in, finish smooth, light but a bit more body than previously, quite pretty, silky texture. Day 1 was an 86 but day 2 an 89 -- so the lesson is, (exceptionally for a burgundy) decant or wait a few more years.

Alas, oxidized. Kept in Eurocave, so it must have been before I acquired it from JJ Buckley. Other bottles in the batch were ok so maybe just bad luck.

2007 village level Nuits St. Georges is so silky with its beautifully polished tannins. Very elegant and refreshing in style, which I often associate with Chambolle Musigny rather, this has no shortage of aromatics and flavors. Good mix of red and dark fruits and some earthiness are just so pleasing. This is one fine example of why I drink Burgundy. Tasted from 375ml.

Pours a medium red. Nose of tart red fruits, primarily cherries, and baking spice with a touch of earth.
The palate follows the nose, with a distinct sour cheery flavor and an earthy note that comes to the fore on the medium length finish. Medium- body, medium acidity and fully resolved tannins. I left some overnight in a decanter on my counter and the wine became more sour and astringent on the finish. Would recommend drinking now as I have doubts this will improve given the degradation overnight.

Translucent maroon color in the glass and leaves long fast legs. Funky nose of dust, barnyard and tart red fruit on the nose. The palate reveals medium acid and medium minus body. A good balance of acid and fruit, you get tart red fruits coming through. Elegant and well balanced reminds me of a Clos des Porrets but just a little hollow. Awesome Villages level Burgundy, I'm totally digging Henri's vibe and style!

From 375; PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs -semi-translucent light red, clear rim -a little funk, dusty, candied cherry -med acidity, lighter body, sweet/sour cherry and earth, pretty simple, med+ chalky tannins -very typical for '07 with shell of candied red fruit surrounding a somewhat hollow mid-palate, with some Gouges rusticity; OK, give a couple years for tannins to integrate

This evolved nicely with air, with a tart red fruit nose followed by flavors of cranberry, red plum, earth, and mineral. This is quite acidic but balanced, lean but long. Would have guessed 2008 blind -- reminds me of the Chevillon 2008 NSG, which is sadly overly acidic, almost devoid of fruit at this stage in its evolution. The acid here falls short of being a distraction; rather it is lively. This is the 2nd bottle of the 2007 Gouges NSG I've tasted over the last few weeks (both from 375mL), consistent notes. Today, this wine demands a 1-2 hour decant to achieve balance.

Consistent with prior tastings, this is a pleasing village wine - pure with good acidity, if not particularly distinguished fruit. On the tannic side but enjoyable.

Translucent dark strawberry robe. The nose and palate showing salinity, earth, forest floor and red fruits. Give it an hour and and a half decant. Beautifully made wine that's currently drinking very well yet has the structure to evolve for at least another decade.

Big proportions for a village wine, but I suppose that is typlical for Nuits St George. Burgundy nose of forest floor and mushrooms. Some noticeable tannins which surprised me a little for a 2007. Enjoyable cherry fruit as it mellowed with air. I would definitely keep this one for a few years, as I do think there would be a softening of the tannins.

From 375 mL. On the first night, this can come off as a bit harshly acidic. On subsequent nights, the acidity mellowed out to a merely "bright" level, and this becomes a delightful village burgundy. The color and taste profile exemplify what people mean when they talk about transparency - there is something so clear, so pure about this wine it's almost crystalline. Objectively, 87-89, but at its best it pleased me like a 91+ pointer.

Purchased today, and er, drank one today! Aeration enhanced the wine and with the bottle size, I won't have any to taste tomorrow as she be a goner. At the end of the bottle, the cherry fruit added a bit of weight and nice bright edges with a medium weight, some truffle, mineral and nice kick of acid. I'd certainly buy this again and I'll pick up a couple 750s of it next time I am at Envoyer. Nice.

Similar to other $40-50/btl pinots. Perfectly good, light, fruity and a hair acidic. Nothing bad, but just not the great experience one hopes for.
