Medium crimson colour. The wine seemed raisiny and restrained upon opening, and opened up and found its balance after about two hours in the decanter. Red and dark fruit, cherry, garrigue, pastille, spices, coffee, and intense minerality, with medium-level acidity, mostly resolved tannin, and very good length. Medium to full body. The alcohol is lightly warming at first, but integrated with aeration. Lightly drying on day two. I recommend decanting for two hours. 91(-)(?)

Mycket bra.

Decanted for 4 hours, had a touch of heat. Glass the second day was much smoother. Good, but not sure I’d buy another bottle of this vintage considering some of the excellent 2007 CdPs.

Smooth, with a bit more weight than Nov 2019. Still elegant, dark berry and mocha aromas, and dark berry, mocha, earth, dark cherry, and plum flavors. A little bit of sediment at the end, but not much. Enjoyed by all with grilled ribeye steaks and pork chops. Gave it a 92 this time after a 91 in Nov for a bit more balance. Wish I had more than one left.

I got rid of four bottles of this wine because I don’t see myself ever drinking it. Normally I like their wine, but I should have drunk these more or less on release. With age a nasty, bitter, aftertaste became dominant. I’m guessing ladybugs or something of that kind. But 2007 was a hot dry summer, and it yielded wines with various kinds of issues. Basically, the fruit ripened way faster than the stems or pips, and some fruit burned. You don’t get a cooked flavor here, but this extreme bitterness could have come from many sources. At any rate, out it goes.

PHMG WAG: the '07 Chateauneufs (Old Home of the Lyon): Finally found a "young" slightly tight wine in this group. Black fruit, cherry liqueur, tar, leather, garrigue, and stone need a little more time given the firm tannins. Only one of the ten that improved overnight. Best: 2018-2025.

Gorgeous aromas still permeate your glass. This wine is still first rate. Had the benefit of side by side comparison with their 2012. The 07 was much smoother in style, with rich fruit and a balance that lingers.

Lush, round textures, black raspberry, kirsch, thyme, espresso and smoke on the nose, with a sultry, low acid, sweet, ripe, fruit filled finish. This is clearly fun to drink today.

On the first day I struggled with the alcohol which seemed to dominate the fruit and the other components in the wine. So I left the bottle for the next day and wow... what a difference. The wine softens and opens and all the flavours now show in a balanced and complex way. The black berry fruit and spices are now underpinned by the power this wine has to offer. Very good!

PnP I irritation over en fejlbehæftet Chianti blev denne åbnet og skænket med det samme, velvidende at den havde bedst af en lang dekantering. Meget ungdommelig farve. Meget lukket i duften. Lidt for skarp i syren. 87p

Tight when it was opened, but evolved well over about six hours of drinking. Mint, baking spice, breakfast cereal (honey nut cheerios, mabe?), lavender, licorice on the nose. Lots of tannins and acid on the palate but it's in balance. Seems surprisingly approachable now, but this is going to get interesting in a few years.

This had been opened for 24 hours and I gotta say, based on this bottle, I was very disappointed in this wine. the nose is pretty with violets, red cherries and a little framboise and a lot of spice.

taste: forward with a medium/full body and tones of red licorice, cherry liqueur, red fruits, spices and black currants as well. The tannins are there, but far from overpowering.
overall: Smoothed out a little bit and didn't seem so run away on the fruit. Still, it's a forward wine and it doesn't bring a lot of depth either. It doesn't seem all *that* much better than the base cuvee.

2007 Chateauneuf du Papes ($60 and under): Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has day old campfire, tea, black raspberries and cherries. On the palate, sweet cherries turning candied with air. wineflock- 2007 CdPs (Bob's house, Northbrook IL): nose: extremely dark and very extracted nose that borders on over ripe with tones of black cherries, herbs, black licorice, black fruits, some hot stones and a good amount of oak. There is good complexity, but this is a bit much for me right now
taste: Big, bold, and very extracted with rich medium/full tones of black cherries, melted black licorice, black fruits, and a good dose of oak. Extremely big on the palate and doesn't have big tannins to it either
overall: group no8 my no9. This seemed to have a real big amount of syrah in the blend, and it came off as more aussie type syrah as it was over ripe in a way. Extremely bold and rich, this certainly needs time, but its hard to tell where this will go with time and its not too flattering of a wine right now to begin with

An evening with Frederic Coulon from Domaine Beaurenard (Perman): Even though it has the same oak treatment as the 2004, the oak was not as upfront. Otherwise, a pretty similar profile with dark fruits with a hint of chocolate, juicy and balanced, supple tannin and med- acidity. I'm surprised how open this is right now. Nevertheless, a few years will certainly improve it and again the oak will be even more integrated.

Dark red color with a purple hue. Fruit-driven, primary nose with intense aromas of raspberries, plums, other dark berries and licorice. Excitingly fruity and fresh on the palate with delicate, pure, yet sweet raspberries and red cherries. Surprisingly there is a bit of sourness and bitterness to the fruit, like bitter cherries and dark chocolate on the midpalate and finish. In line with the region and vintages with inviting sweet fruit, but this has a good deal of structure and acidity that get me excited. It was tasted blind and I was quite surprise to discover that this elegant and refined Chateauneuf du Pape was in fact the Boisrenard, which I normally find at the oaky, concentrated and modern end of spectrum. Looking forward to revisit this in the future.
