Fully mature now, but still utterly satisfying. Old-school Chateauneuf du Pape, airy and light with a lean body, showing faded cherry fruit, herbs and spices. Very complex, mostly on tertiary notes, but is easy to drink because of the lightness. 13.5% alc. Don’t wait too long with this.

Wow, a bit of leakage, and it took a two prong and a corkscrew to slowly remove cork, but really nice, a bit of prune, no Brett, or oak, just nice aged, rich CDP. Remember purchasing from the Prestige et Tradition in downtown CDP. Really nice fellow at the cash register, and pallets of the Bosquet shrink rapped going to Denver on the floor, waiting shipment. Yum!

Beautiful color, a little bricking on the edge. Restrained nose but came around in 30 minutes or so with red fruits, mushroom, and nice acidity. Tannins intact, still firm.

Color: Medium Garnet with bricking Nose: Mushrooms! with herbs, earth, a little funky Palete: Soft acidity, dried red fruit (raspberry, strawberry), a bit of mushroom earthiness Body: Lithe, more like a Burgundy than a Rhone, not shy but graceful Finish: Long, lingering, dried red berry fruit, soft tannins, lingering hint of cinnamon
This is long past its lush, sensuous time, and yet a very pleasant wine, like a "Grand Dame" with elegance, poise and character.

Following up on the plan outlined in my previous tastings, I decanted my last bottle for an hour before consuming with a provençal dinner. Tight with some restrained fruit (currant & berries) balanced with acid and tannins. The finish is similar also restrained. Now that all my bottles are gone, I think I made a mistake. I should have ignored the "drink by" recommendations and waited a couple of years. I suspect that the wine was in a dormant, dumb phase and with more time would have melded into a more interesting, mature character.

A throwback to warm, traditional Chateauneuf du Pape. Lovely flavors of dark ret fruit, provencal spices, anise and tobacco. At 13.5% alcohol there is a lightness to this wine which is refreshing - none of that 'tipping the scales at 16%+ alcohol' crap. A well structured wine with all of the components in good balance. Delightful.

Got better as it breathed, but not quite enough flavors to balance the tannins. When I drink my last bottle, which will be soon, I'll let it rest in the decanter for at least an hour.

Amber color, mellow nose of cedar and cellar, some complexity in the mouth followed by a good finish. Not much power, but I enjoyed the complexity and refined taste. Drink up.

Opened my only bottle of this with Anwar, Trigirl and some family last weekend. One of 7 reds we drank. Finished in the middle of the pack. Dark red color. Rich red fruit notes with some spices. Soft tannins. I liked the 1998 and 2000 vintages better than the 1999. 89 points.

From magnum. Not completely clear and quite light colour. Very old style Chateauneuf on the rustic side. Goes well with the leg of lamb. Fully mature now and will probably not improve further.

After 6 weeks with fruit-forward bombs in NZ/Australia, I was looking forward to drinking a mature wine and this bottle did the trick. The 1999 Bosquet is fully mature now and it shows mostly secondary flavors like farmyard, licorice, lavender, tobacco and smoke together with marks of baked plum. Its certainly a wine that is true to its origin and at 13.5% alcohol (per label) it manages to maintain freshness and constraint with no alchol or headiness showing through. Very good wine actually, not likely to improve from here but will definitely stay on form 5-7 years on.

Red59-Tasted 13/2/10-Duck ( Chinese) Unobtrusive Ch du Pape.-nose fine herby with earthy/herb flavours. But no aftertaste and don't see much future development. More definition after 24 hours-some life left here

Initial nose decadent, barnyardy, blows off somewhat, lovely palate of cherry and leather, some rosemary. Not for everyone, but offers interesting drinking and classic CdP colors.

Somewhat disappointing, after several years of good storage. Soft and smooth, but really did not offer much in the way of fruit for what was supposed to be a pretty good vintage.

Jmht's note at Cellartracker is spot on for decanting time. Popped & poured this had pepper and garrigue dominating with a bit of a shrill acid backbone. After 1 1/2 or 2 hours the fruit came out and the acid became more balanced. Very enjoyable for a family meal. Served with lamb burgers seasoned with basil and garlic, and poussins seasoned with sage and rosemary, both grilled over a cherrywood fire.

Nose of dark red fruits, saddle leather. Palate of raspberry, candied cherry, garrigue, Provencal herbs, good acidity. It was disjointed first 90 minutes before opening up nicely. If drinking now, definitely decant. Drinking well now, lightish body, but still good fruit.

Very strong smelly nose of must and leather with blackberries underneath. Most of the funk blew off after about 30 minutes. Pretty soft. Spice, tobacco, and dark berries with a hint of vanilla on the finish. Probably fading a bit but drinking pretty nicely now.

Brown at the edges but with a nose of dried fruit and leather and some herbs. Dried cherries and raspberries at the start though the fruit was better after an hour. Good tannin and acid and a good finish. Probably a year or two beyond its peak, but a good wine.

Christmas Eve in Okemo, VT. This is a great bottle of traditionally made Chateauneuf du Pape and it is in a great spot right now. The color is deep, dark red. On the nose I find black cherry fruit, licorice, leather and pepper. Garrigue, and a bit of lavender on the palate. Very true to it's origin for sure, this wine is telling me where it comes from. I always liked the regular cuvee from Bosquet des Papes. No need for help from Cambie here. Went well with the duck and pork roast.

I can't see holding this wine any longer ... the drink window is way off base. There is still some nice raspberry liquer, raisin and fig jam. Subtle notes of oxidation, port-like haev begun to show on the nose. The finish is still showing some tannin and there was some improvement over a 2-3 hour period. Drink now or within the next year.

Dinner at Spago's. Decanted at restaurant with slight sediment in glass. Nice color, deep ruby red. Not as full as newer CdP but great nose of cherry and spice after about an hour of air. Disjointed at first, came into its own later in the meal. There was some bottle stink there upon opening. Light body but good cherry fruit and some earthiness. 1 more to go...
