Great bottle of this which is definitely at full maturity but still with some nice vigor and good richness and acids. Layered and complex with a lovely minty note on the saturated finish.

This bottle was in excellent shape and showed all the qualities of a nicely aged white burg. Light golden hue and an expressive nose of orchard fruits, buttered toast, hazelnuts, and some button mushroom. Rich and peachy with more buttered toast on the palate with a big wollop of minerals on the long finish. Delicious and for my taste, at peak.

The colour indicates a wine of age but there are still fresh green hues. It has a rich and expressive nose of vanilla, apricot, lavender, ripe peach and flora. You get a suggestion of white mushroom with air. The palate is thick, bursting with heady orchard fruits. there's a buttery feel against the gums and the whole mouth is enveloped with flavour. There is mineral below the flesh and balance is near perfect. A brilliant aged white Burg.

Wafting bouquet of white lilies, white flowers, honeysuckle, and nice slate / wet stone notes. Big and rich with strong florals. Oily pastels, beeswax, and traces of smoke. Very fresh and clean but packs a great deal of power on the palate. Great energy and electricity even after hours in the glass. A big meursault, but beautiful.

Light golden in color, elegant nose of honey and caramel, slight nutiness. Mature and slightly rounded palate, yet still with lively acidity. Very ready to drink yet will be able to hold for a few more years, brilliant.

Tasted blind, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The high- intensity nose offered up citrus, quinine, vanilla, and a hint of hazelnut.
In the mouth, this wine was quite rich with string acidity and excellent length. It improved nicely with air. This was a Riedel bottling and it was by far the freshest example that I have tasted. This one would have even improved for the next 5+ years. Other bottles have been noticeably more advanced. A lovely bottle!

Notes of sulfur blow off quickly revealing ripe yellow fruits, roasted hazelnuts, and truffle honey notes. In a perfect place. Perhaps missing a touch of acidity, but drinking very well.

Beautiful mature meursault. Honey, butterscotch, yellow apple, and pear. Seamless and full on the palate. A touch light on acid, but that just enhance luxurious feeling of this wine. This was the first bottle out of a well stored ocb.

The wines of of Comtes Lafon, with James Handford MW (Handford Wines, London): Full on wine, ever the crowd pleasing meursault terroir, rich, lots of fruit the ( for us charmes is the New Yorker in the group of meursault terroir friends in the way that it doesn't shy away from making his point, good mannered stereotype here pls!) Ripe, a touch of smoky bacon mentioned. Has aged so gracefully. 92-93

Tasted blind, this bottle had a deep yellow center with clear rims. It looked a lot older than it was. On the nose, it verged on overripe, showing apricots, apples and a hint of oxidation.
I have experienced some bottle variation with this wine. This was a pretty average example. It was very rich and ripe in the mouth with waxy, apple fruit and good length. Overall it was good but not great. I have had fresher examples. However, as a rule, it is time to drink this one up.

Darker and more advanced. The palate shows excellent concentration but no acidity to counterbalance which makes the wine cloying and without precision. With some air it got fresher but still a disappointment. This would have shown so well in the barrel as well as in the first ten years of the life but drink up.

A non-p'oxed Lafon at last. Drinking extremely well. Light gold colour, toasty buttery nose. Fresh buttered asparagus. Very good acidity gives the wine lift. Continued to develop over the evning. Almost a great wine

This was the second time I tasted this wine. On the first occasion, about 10 years ago, it was rich and delicious, almost in the style of a buttery california chardonnay. It was a real crowd pleaser (probably a 93-4) but now the thrill is gone and is just a shadow of its former self. Maybe a lesson about how long to keep Meurseault from this kind of vintage.

Well along in its evolution, this bottle retained enough richness to be enjoyable. Undertones of lemon and peach with dry minerality on the finish.
