10 years from vintage date and it still has great notes to please both the olfactories and the buds: namely cassis, blackberry, and spiced blueberry; it's dry and still tannic on the palate but that fruit raises it up a notch and the finish goes for the throat with a pleasant combination of cinnamon and black cherry. Still a great bottle of wine.

Down to my last couple of bottles from a case purchased in 2010. As noted previously, there is big-time bottle variation here. Fortunately, this was an exceptionally good one. Very expressive and beautiful on the nose. Intense aromas of blueberries, vanilla, earth and spice. Full-bodied and flat-out delicious. The black cherry and raspberry fruit has faded somewhat, giving this a much better sense of balance. Finishes long, with lingering notes of ripe fruit, milk chocolate and a touch of oak. This has aged amazingly well for a $12 bottle of Cabernet. 50+5+12+16+7=90

Solid value. Could spend a lot more for a lot less. I have found this wine to be very consistent (body, aroma and taste). Also has held up well over the last 3-4 years with cellaring. Wow! 2nd night after vacuum seal, this wine morphed into a deep, heavy, complex brooding Cabernet. Besides the broad blue fruits there is now a heavy dose of espresso and dark chocolate. Should have aerated the first night and given some time. These are not usually the things I would use to describe a $13 bottle of Monday night wine, but it is quite deserving. I note there are still 404 bottles in Cellartracker subscribers cellars. Pull a bottle and give it a try!

There is definitely bottle variation here. The good bottles have been really good - and this is one of them. Lovely aromas of blueberries, spice and vanilla on the nose. Full-bodied, round and generous with its black cherry and chocolate flavors. The long, juicy finish features plenty of fruit, fine tannins and a touch of oak. Polished, complex and delicious, this is a fantastic bottle of wine for $11. Almost as good as the 2006 CC Grand Estates. 50+5+12+15+7=89

Not nearly as good as my previous bottle back in early May. Noticeably leaner and offering less in terms of body and complexity. Showed an unexpectedly simple, sweet and grapey finish. Not by any means unpleasant, but a bit of a disappointment for this usually reliable label. More of a drinking wine than a food wine, there wasn't a lot to this one. Decanted for an hour, which was probably unnecessary. Fruit forward with soft to no tannins, it did not hold up to a steak. However it is still a very good value cabernet at $15.

Classic Cabernet profile from nose to palate. Dried cherries, currant, some mint, vanilla, with the palate reflecting the nose. Medium-full body, sweet tannins, medium acidity. Balanced. Medium-plus finish.
This is the last of 6 bottles that have been consumed over the past 2 years. This final bottle showing probably at its best, though not quite as fresh as previous bottles; certainly fully integrated, however. This wine is ready to drink now and I suspect holding any longer may risk decline. Genuinely 90 pts on its own; 91+ when considering QPR (paid around $11 for this).

Has the trademark Columbia Crest nose of sweet berries and vanilla with hints of oak. This is full-bodied and juicy, offering a ripe mouthful of blackberry and cranberry flavor. Nicely balanced and surprisingly complex, this is more than just a Columbia Valley fruit bomb. Actually has some structure, which at this price point is quite rare. Finishes with nice length, polished tannins and a touch of of mint and oak. Very tough to beat this for value at just $11. 50+5+11+15+8=89

This was tasty yet quite over the top and a bit one dimensional - Dark, full bodied with a nose of extreme plum, black fruit, mocha, chocolate and vanilla, decent structure a touch over the top alcohol wise, simple, fat, sweet and tasty on the palate with minimal length, good but mostly a pass (85 Points).

Still drinking well. This is one of the best under $20 cabernet wines I've ever had. Most such wines have no fruit or structure the second night. This one, night two, still hangs together. I've also tried the Grand Estates, but this has better fruit.

Somewhat disappointed that it didn't show better. Started off 1st day as a regular Wash cab - red sour cherries with some spice, medium to full body, but finsihed very thin. Almost watery. On 2nd day, it became fuller and full bodied with more dark fruit, but still some sour cherry notes, however it was very spicy with too much heat on the finish. Better on day 2 but for an extra couple of bucks there are lots better cabs. If not for the finsih on either day, would have rated it higher - maybe 86-87.

$16 at Safeway supermarket - I thought I'd give it a try because I had heard good things and the price was right. This one did deliver - I was pretty impressed. Dark garnet color, rich nose of nutmeg, leather, chalky earth, cherry pipe tobacco, and vanilla. Smooth, easy mouthfeel. Leaves me wanting just a little more grip from the tannins but still comes across fairly balanced. Finishes long and lovely with dark ripe fruits. A great QPR wine.

Dark garnet color. On the nose I get red fruit, leather, oak and vanilla. On the palate cherry, vanilla and a touch of mocha. At bit tannic initially, but a half-hour into it it seems to have lost the slightly rough edges. Good balance of fruit, alcohol, and tannin. Medium finish. Very nice QPR! Ruby color, claret like, not as deep in color as your typical Cab. Dark almost brooding fruit on the nose with touch of oak coming through. Body was medium to full, mouth coating tannins, but in this bottle not harsh, a touch of sweetness. Bought only one bottle to try, will pick a few more up. Bottom line, nice during the week Cab for the price.

Just back from France and I can appreciate more the attempt here to approach a Bordeaux style wine. Again previous notes apply but this time no minerality as the last bottle. Allot of vanilla and oak but not over the top with nice smooth tannins and acidity with a somewhat short finish. Good everyday drinker and great QPR.

Was the 2nd bottle of the night - so hard to judge on it's own -but it was good and it was following up on a fantastic bottle of syrah - it held it's own with vanilla and oak upfront - I still think it will be better served with more time in the bottle.

A solid 91. This is better wine than I originally thought....here's the deal. It needs a bit of time. First day, the electric fruit is overpowering and it's out of balance in a big way. Great fruit characteristics of layers and edges of complexity...just flabby and moving from tar to blueberry/kiwi. Overnight with a vacuum pump...balance, tannins, and better acidity shows up. worth a multiple bottle buy as a good QPR to drink in a 3 year window. Very characteristic of WA state cab as it has a cherry/blueberry fruit core with nice complexity. I bet the reserve cab is nice for this vintage.

Previous notes still apply however, after 1 hour or so this wine is showing some minerality on the nose that others did not. Still the same in terms of body, taste and finish with just maybe a bit more acidity and spice on the finish.

Previous notes still apply. New world Bordeaux style. Very smooth and somewhat fruit forward with vanilla and oak. Some initial funk on the nose reminiscent of Bordeaux with integrated tannins and minimal spice. Dark fruit with nice legs and medium bodies. Worth the QPR. Sorry I don't have more but I am writing from drinking last night and don't remember much other than it was a good solid wine. MUCH better than their next level cab and merlot.
Day two. Again, this wine holds up VERY WELL over time. Today vanilla and oak, cocoa, and a smooth smell on the nose, if that makes sense. The nose is actually velvety. Some spice, tobacco, cassis and dark fruit, rasberries, etc on the nose. Medium legs, medium to full body on the palate with nice brambly, bell pepper mid palate with nice spice and acidity on a lingering finish. I may just move to 91 on this one. Even better than the first bottle. First class attempt at a new world bordeaux.

Really surprised by how much I liked this wine. Great value. Medium body, restrained fruit but classic cab style with earthy nose, plum and cassis flavors with a good oak (vanilla) and cocoa finish. Tannins are well behaved and not in your face like young cabs can be. Very drinkable now but could improve with a little more time.

I too am confused with the disparity in TN's. VERY INTERESTING. For me this was all 'Bordeaux' style with the barnyard on the initial nose and subtle dark fruit, cocoa, cassis. Nice medium legs with med to full body feel on the palate. New world with the big vanilla and oak but not over the top. Smooth tannins well structured with just a hint of sweentess/cherry like on the tongue on the finish. Actually this too me was like an Old World Bordeaux trying to morph into a New World Bordeaux...VERY Interesting and fun wine, especially at this price point. Had it over two days and the second day was as good as the first if not better so the wine is holding up. Felt like I should have scored this higher.
Lush and rich with a great mouthfeel. Would have merited an extra 2-3 points if it didn't taste so artificial. Imagine if someone were to spill a bottle of vanilla extract on an oak barrel. Now, imagine licking that barrel repeatedly. That's exactly what drinking this wine tastes like.
Update - 2 hours later. Very slight improvement as a small portion of the oak has disappeared. 87

I'm puzzled because my experience with this wine is so dissimilar from others here. For the first several hours, this was an oak monster. There was vanilla, and a few cabernet flavors, but they were buried beneath a lot of new oak and mouth-drying tannins. After a few hours the oak subsided a bit, but not enough for my taste.
I loved this wine- have to give an extra point to the WS review. Deep primary red raspberry and blueberry fruit and sweet floral aromas. Not very complex or nuanced, but bold and pure without being cloyingly sweet or syrupy. Moderate finish with sneaky tannins at the end. Pleasantly surprised.

Very smooth chocolate and cherry on the nose. Nice spicy notes on the palate with blueberry fruit. It is a little hot, could use some further ageing to help this mellow. Medium weight. A little short on the finish. Overall a good wine for the price.

Earthy, featuring aromas and flavors of sage, black pepper and black raspberry liquour, with hints of sweet cured tobacco and mineral, and a dash of blueberry on the finish. Medium-bodied and somewhat restrained, lacking any considerable depth, but solid.

Very good value play here. Strong notes of jam, black cherries, sage, bell peppers. A little hot (might just need time to soften). Touch of vanilla and a strong sense of oak. Finish leaves a lot to be desired. Nice easy drinking that doesn't break the bank. Columbia Crest continues to put out a great product at every price point. Drank over three days, improved by the last day.

Blind tasted. Oak and low fruit on the nose -relatively closed and singulalry cabernet. Blackberry jam, vanilla, and black cherries, with a slighly abbreviated finish due to oaky tannins. I guessed youngish-Napa fruit (2005 Stewart), and scored before it was revealed as a $12 wine. Enjoyed more after. Will buy more asap.

Notes of cedar, earth and leather in a light to medium bodied cab that was overpowered by the somewhat spicy seasoning on a filet mignon. Not a bad wine but the food needs to be on the subtle side for the wine to show.

85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Nice blend. Aroma has oak, but some currant and mint. Palate has dynamic attack, fruity but tannic, and very noticeable oak as a mid- and back-palate visitor. Yes to the cocoa and dusty tannins. Overall a good wine with a modest beef dish with tomato or spicy sauces.

Pop'n'pour. Drank at the lower-end of room temperature. Dark and almost musky currant aromas with a touch of coffee. Full fruit forward flavors and medium-weight (not too flabby and glycerin-viscous) in the mouth. Simple dark fruit profile. Balanced acidity, and oak treatment is subtle. Very, very slight impression of sweetness (but possibly just fruitiness) . Soft and enveloping tannins that are slightly grippy. Slight warmth on the medium length finish. Elements transition seamlessly in the mouth. Not complex but a great value at $11 for everyday drinking. The 2 extra bucks over the Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cab is worth it. Fans of 100% new oaked and flabby (low acid/pH) wines probably won't like this as much. edit: the alcohol on the finish of the wine and in the aroma becomes more apparent with air time and warming up. Keep the wine at 63degF or below for best showing.

Excellent QPR sipper. Nice, robust nose. A bit heavy on the acid on the palate, and while the finish is lengthly it's reminiscent of the sour cherry hard candy I used to scarf as a kid (which I loved as candy, it's just OK in wine). But for $11 definitely a worthwhile mid-week drinker.

Color 2/2: Nothing special to note, no reason to subtract points here. Bouquet 4/4: There is a hint of a big body and long finish in the nose. Definitly in the promising range of my scale! Taste 6/10: This is definitly drinkable now. Well balanced tannins, good acidity, and a body that is bigger and better than a $12 bottle would suggest. The transitions are smooth, and the finish, while not as big and complex as the bouquet promised, is still very pleasant. Overall 2/4: Why only 2/4 after saying so many nice things? It's a solid, good wine, but not great. I like it, but am not in love with it (which is required for 3/4), nor is it one of the best I've ever tasted (which is required for 4/4). I am very favorably impressed with the QPR. For $12, buy it when you can find it and open for a nice every-day table wine.

Great QPR at $11. This wine had a sweet mocha scent wafting from the glass. On the palate, there were dark berries and a streak of cocoa / mocha present. On day 2, the cocoa had faded, and then the wine was more prominently dark berry on the palate with fine grainy tannins on the medium finish. Nice silky mouthfeel too that did not strike me as thin at all. Overall, a decent wine and good value.

Ridiculously sweet, bordering on undrinkable for what is supposed to be a dry red wine (or maybe I'm wrong for assuming that's what a Cabernet is supposed to be). Thick in the mouth with over the top candied/fake fruit. Huge oak and vanilla. Not recommended.

Popped and poured, Aroma faint dark cherry, mocha and a faint earth component. Immediate flavor of vanilla, dark fruits, mocha w/a creamy, rich hedonism I liked. Very smooth, w/o much tannin, for a Washington '07 cab. Not over the top, but pretty close as far as extreme richness along w/the vanilla & oak powerhouse (oak monster). After an hour and a half, no improvement, wine began to fade and lose some of its initital flavor. Good +, and for $10.99 at Fred Meyer, a solid QPR.

So amazing on the nose the instant it's opened. Plums and ripe dark blackberries. A little fake grapey on the palate. Just a little. Big and serious finish both in the dry mouthfeel it leaves and the duration the wine stays with you. Wow- an impressive supermarket wine for just a shade over $10. Columbia Crest does it again.

Deep purple in the glass. A nose of stewed plumes and raisins. The mouth was full of dust tannins and soft red and black fruits. The finish was impressively delicious with blackcurrants, kirsch, cloves, and creamy vanilla. Drank this as by the glass at a restaurant, so I'm not sure how long it had been open. Would definitely buy more.
