Hard to believe this was disgorged 11/2012. Plenty of acidity and verve left. In fact, that might have been a shortcoming as it lacked the oxidative notes I associate with older Champagne.

#2 Cata Amics Porreres - Champagne: The wine looks salmon colored. It smells like cranberry, strawberry, raspberry, rose, toast, mineral, stoniness, baker's yeast, bready and leesy. The body is light/medium. The wine has narrow texture. The wine finishes medium+. The wine has medium acidity.

Retail $65. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, of which 7% Pinot Noir is added as a still red wine (for color). Light in color, actually more orange than pink. The color and cork (which never expanded once removed) indicate that this wine has some age on it, which usually is usually not only OK, but actually preferred. In this case? I am not so sure. Yes, there is still fruit, which is quite tart, and a touch of yeastiness, but lacks the intense autolytic component that I expect from older champagnes, which is a bit typical for older rosés. Still, Excellent.
Short notes here - wow, very nice and what a solid performer for the price. On appearance - salmon pink with some blood orange highlights in the color. Nice meandering little mousse. On the nose - got some nectarine, peach, some blood orange (but not bitter, good citrus), honey and marzipan. Light biscuit notes as well. On the palate - it brings with it a fresh, fleshy fruit flavor that lingers to a medium + long finish.
Very solid QPR. Great memories - makes me want to open up another bottle right now.

Dg 12/2021. Dynamic, delicate bouquet, strawberries, mint, pastries; the palate is fresh, mineral, there is attractive strawberry fruit, and a very chalky finish. Should age well. 17/20

All minerality and yeasty brioche, with just a little red berry fruit. So dry. This is totally in my wheelhouse. If you like your bubble very dry and minerally, this should be in your cellar. Good QPR for the region too.

This pours a lovely, light salmon color. The nose is well balanced and elegant with strawberries, fresh picked berries, cherries, citrus, toast, spiced pears, nectarines, mineral notes, cinnamon spices, biscuits, and a touch of dough. The Medium bodied feel is well balanced with tart, high acidity. This is a 60/40 blend of Pinot to Chard along with a 70/30 blend of oak to stainless. This is a lovely Rose champagne that consistently wins for me. I'm quickly becoming a real big fan of Nicolas Maillart and I can't stop drinking these delicious champagnes.

Medium nose intensity with notes of cranberry, strawberry. High acidity, and medium+ mousse. The ‘gas’ in the bottle is intense, probably one of the highest I ever had experienced. Perhaps due to the transfer movement as I just received it today.

Disgorged 2010 - This may be the best Rose Champagne I’ve ever enjoyed. Strawberries on the nose, rich fruit and bright acidity on the palate. Long finish with the fruit and brightness continuing. I thought this was going to be too old considering the disgorge date - it’s just hitting it’s peak.

Pale salmon color. Drank a glass over an hour plus - drank on the lake. Two years additional cellar time. Very distinctive wine with cherry, spiced cherry, red currants, yeast, cinnamon, and subtle mulled spices. The palate is elegant and consistent with the nose, medium bodied with prominent cherry, cinnamon spice, strawberry and chalk notes.

Grand Cru caliber with roughly 60/40 split between Chardonnay and Pinot, with about 7% of the Pinot from red wine. This creates a really pretty glass of salmon orange.
Aromas of crushed red cherry skin and strawberry flesh play along with cinnamon spiked orange spice and raw bagel dough. Tight mousse. Flavors for a good mile of Granny Smith apples, tart white cherries, and a little fermented nuttiness.

Very peculiar bright salmon color, perfectly described by other tasting notes. Very slow and small perlage, apparently a trademark of Maillart (see my other note on the platine bottling). Strong cherry in the nose, that is the very first impression, a totally wood induced cherry. After that medicinal smell, cough syrup. Clearly marked on the label "50% aged in oak", very liberal use of oak. Given that this bottle is disgorged in July 2020, I infer this specific bottling needs to rest for quite a bit more. On the palate the same sequence of cherry, drugs and bitterness from the wood. After that, strawberry and mineral prop up very slowly. This wine, right now is totally dominated by wood. It feels quite sweet, providing a sensation tasting sweeter than the 4g/l declared on the label, also this effect must be wood induced. It is very difficult to judge this wine right now, I have the impression that the wood component needs to integrate. This said, the wood used appears quite far from neutral. Another thick wine from Maillard, not a wine for lovers of citrus infused, delicate and tart champagnes.

Surprisingly clear red fruit up front, peppery and fleshy core, finishes tart on big acidity. Not sure what's going on here but there's something interesting in all that fruit in front of a more standard champagne core and finish... fun.

Retail $65. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, of which 7% Pinot Noir is added as a still red wine (for color). Even though Nicolas Maillart is in Écueil, a Premier Cru Village on the other side of the Montagne de Reims (which is really just a glorified hill), the fruit for this wine comes from perhaps my favorite Grand Cru Village, Bouzy. Thus, I had high hopes. It certainly delivered. Medium salmon color with intense aromas of wild strawberry and Bing cherry paired with a delicate, yet vibrant, sparkle in the glass. The fruit comes through right away on the palate but is quickly followed by a healthy dose of tart (6g/l dosage), zingy acidity, followed by a touch of yeastiness and a lengthy finish. This is not the "best" rosé I have had from Bouzy (I think it has a bit too much Chardonnay), but it is certainly Excellent. thedrunkencyclist.com

Retail $65. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, dont 7% Pinot Noir vinifié en rouge. This bottle comes off as a shade tarter than its predecessors, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I usually prefer an extra dollop of body to increased acidity. Otherwise, similar notes. thedrunkencyclist.com

Retail $65. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, dont 7% Pinot Noir vinifié en rouge. Bright composition of Pinot & Chardonnay leads to a floral, nose with some candied red fruit and splashes of yeast. First of 3 bottles from online wine clearinghouse ($29.99). Had one glass at a party, not ideal for notes and I prefer generally to have more time and more consumption for my reviews. As others have noted, somewhat unusual color for a Rose, more toward the copper than pink end. Moderate bubbles, light to medium bodied, light to medium acidity. Palate dominated by strawberries with the classic yeast/toast notes. Light and quite complementary to food, this could be bumped a point or two with a bit more body, a longer finish and just a bit more acidity (personal preference). Still, very solid qpr. 90-91.

Pretty cool to pick this up recently with a full 10 years since disgorgement. Probably a fair amount different than a recently disgorged bottle!
Deep reddish pink. a: black cherry, almost liqueur-like, and a toasty caramel/toffee note -- smells very rich and concentrated. F: more toward the raspberry and tart cherry, baking spices, good heft in the middle, fresh and long in the finish. Nice rich rose, and fun with this much time since disgorgement.

65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay; larger bubbles at first that get a little finer, soft copper pink; almost candied soft red fruit, not a ton of yeast but a subtle biscuit quality, some chalk in the background; palate similar to the nose in a medium body and intensity; very drinkable.

Pop and pour. Aromas and flavors of strawberry, watermelon, lime and slate. This had a lot of character you'd typically find in a great Rose. Ends with a great finish of 20+ seconds with notes of cherry and lime. Not sure if I like this more than the Platine but it is certainly a great deal for $30. Will need to pick some more up if I see them.

I expected this to be a bit richer in character, given it's 100% pinot noir and from a grand cru vineyard. However, we felt it was quite austere and offered little in the way of charm or complexity with a quite dry, rather short finish. The disgorgement date on this bottle was 04/2018 with 6 grams of sugar/liter - it is always appreciated when a producer includes this info on the back label. We sipped this on its own and it may have been better with oysters or beef tartare. I'd like to retaste this in 2 or 3 years to see if it will settle down and improve with some bottle age, hoping it might nudge up closer to a 90 point rating.

Fruit day - back of bottle says disgorged April/2010 - absolutely stunning bottle of wine! Fine mousse with persistent small bubbles. Gorgeous nose of wild strawberries, cherries, spice and slight herbs. On the palate it's crisp and dry but with beautiful red fruits in abundance followed by a rich nuttiness and some toast on the finish. The finish is long, ending with the red fruit back in force. This is an excellent effort and shows how some Champagnes really can develop with some time in the cellar.

Friday Night Wines w/ Bob, Selma & Summer (Bob and Selma's Apartment): Really enjoyed the fresh raspberries and wild strawberries on the nose. The flavor of the wine reminded me of fresh strawberries Summer and I had picked while hiking outside of Sante Fe this past summer - so pure and focused. The beading was really vigorous which was quite nice. I thought this showed completely differently than a bottle I'd had a cuople months before (could be because I had my first taste of this outside on a hot evening in DC).

The palate is much fruitier than I expected. While I had hoped for a lot more, this was certainly a lovely quaff. thedrunkencyclist.com

Light copper color. The nose shows aromas of strawberry, cream, minerals, toast and a hint of flowers. This is medium light bodied on the palate with very good concentration and very good finesse. The fairly long finish features a mineral element.

Pale pink color. Drank two glasses over an hour plus. Finally got to try this after missing out on a bottle last weekend that the wives drank. I totally agree with galewskj on this. Good value, very nice rose Champagne, bright strawberry, decent yeast, citrus and medium body. Well balanced and tasty, very clean. My mom really enjoyed this one. 90+ to 91pts.

Aromas of strawberry, raspberry and cherry. Flavors of pretty much the same with some mineral mixed in. Ends with a 20+ second finish with strawberry notes. A really nice Rose Champagne.

For the price, I think this is a winner. True champagne character, some nice toast and yeast, almost ripe strawberry.
