I think most people don’t have or drink enough mature, white wine, especially Chardonnay based white wine. Okay maybe I don’t. This was really good. Still in its prime. No just of browning.
I don’t taste particular things in wine very well, but I tasted pineapple, peach, and a little bit of citrus. The wine was really well balanced. I’m always amazed at how well balanced Brewer Clifton wines are despite the sometimes high alcohol. This one was “only” 14% but I’ve had some other Chardonnays that were over 15% , and if you’re reading this, you’ve probably had the same Chardonnays.
Goodbye beautiful wine. Wish I had more of you.

Good deepish yellow color; notes of tropical guava/pineapple, apple pear, with creme brulee undertones, a little brioche--no over-maturity showing, in surprisingly great shape! super silky, telflon silkiness, concentrated but not gooey, Good acidity keeps this a little tangy; this is outstanding. subtle mineral notes under the exuberant fruit and integrated vanilla oak, tertiaries starting, this is in a perfect place really, and should hold well for a few more years, although why take the chance? Very nice for a 12 y.o. central coast chard. Only beef is the oak is a bit heavy handed, but it's well integrated and goes well with the style and fruit. A bit hi alcohol, but that's to be expected. Very nice effort. With grilled halibut, which maybe is a bit light for this wine. Had this the next day with smoked salmon which I thought would be a better pairing. Not so. I think the oak reared it's head more after sitting overnight int he fridge and was a bit too much for the salmon.

At Musso & Frank's: Lovely pure orchard fruit with good spine of rocky minerality and just a light smack of ripe california fruit and hints of tropical notes. Really well balanced, well integrated oak, moderately creamy mouthfeel, excellent depth and great overall. Glad I still have 2 left. try again in a year or 2. 93?

Light gold color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 3 hours. The nose show good purity, with lovely lemon, lemon surd, citrus and subtle oak notes.l The palate has good depth, lemon, lemon oil, earthy, nutty, slightly tropical, toasted oak, minerals, and a long finish. I found this to be compelling on both the nose and palate. 92+ to 93pts.

In OC with the family, pre Easter dinner. Last of my bottles for this vintage. Opened 3, one was corked. Not sure if it was just bad luck, but had another corked bottle recently.
Consistent with prior notes, green apples, apricot, citrus, orange rind. Some mustiness on these bottles. Enjoyable wine. Drink now, definitely fading.

Consistent with last note. This wine seems to be losing fat with time, or getting thinner. Depends on your point of view. It is still enjoyable but not so much as in its younger days. To my palate, it seems to have lost a little balance as the acidity has become too prominent relative to the fruit.

First bottle of the 2008 that we have opened in two years. The nose then was fruit and wet rocks. Now it is more vanilla and spice. Stone fruit, flint and citrus flavor with a touch of marmalade in the long finish. Still good acidity but it has softened a bit. Seems to be evolving into something a little less electric and a little more exotic. We may stretch our remaining bottles out to see where this is going. It looks to be somewhere interesting.

Had this one open 3-4 days in the fridge, finally decided to re-taste and do a note on the wine. Medium yellow-gold in color. Nose of pears, honeycrisp apples and wet stones. Very balanced and gorgeous palate of apple with a light tropical sweetness, followed by butterscotch, leading into a medium length, toasty finish that has great acidity and is in no way "Cali overdone". Rather, it is balanced, exciting, delicious, and oh so drinkable with food or alone. A bit pricey, but a brilliant effort. Should drink well another 5 years anyway.
