Very big surprise. I did not expect much of the this wine and was very pleasantly surprised. Much bigger than I anticipated with great color, nice nose and clean, full flavor. I bought this at release for $26 and cellard since then. I should have bought a whole lot more.

Great showing. This has really put on weight in the 17 years since its release. Still a fine dark red, beautiful secondary nose with depth, a saccharine quality I liken to cotton candy, dark cherries and just a whiff of finely integrated old wood. Plush and smooth on the palate with just a fine edge of tannin lending support. Good acidity also adding life and slight structure. Would like to know the exact cepage but I imagine merlot is the predominant grape. I find that about 30% cabernet sauvignon is all it takes to make an excellent claret on the left bank, at least for my tastes. This would grace any table and can easily keep another five-ten years with good storage.

12.5% alcohol. Great color on this wine. Full red with just a bit of lightening at the edge of the glass. Pretty nose of tobacco and cedar and lighter black fruits. In the mouth, strikingly elegant for St. Estephe. Perhaps not the same concentration of the best examples from the vintage, but this is a really nice, easy-drinking wine at peak. B+/A-

Visual: Dark purple with slight bricking at the edges
Nose: Dark fruits, cigar ash, plums, tar
Palate: Dark fruited, strong, but somewhat balanced tannins, tar, earth and wood that is still integrating, but getting there.
Some secondary notes, but still plenty alive. Solid B. Great QPR. I think I paid around $10/bottle en premier. It was a good value, even if the cost of cellaring it has made it reach $20/bottle. Hard to find anything this good for less than $40-50/bottle today.

Visual: Dark Inky Purple with violet bricking edges 1/8" from the edge
Nose: Plum, leather, wood and slightly menthol
Palate: Dense dark purple fruits, fresh leather, somewhat herbal, oak is integrating -- but still a bit too strong, and cigar ash.
Acquired and cellared since release. This is in a nice place, but will continue to mature. I hope that the oak integrates further. What a great QPR. I love the cigar ash finish, which is a great one at this price point. B+.

Very nice bordeaux with some good age on it -- this one is not for the long term cellar, it's drinking well now. Notes consistent with prior bottle (about a year ago) -- black fruit, tobacco, earth and mineral flavors, nicely balanced. This wine is restrained in style, not a fruit bomb. Enjoy it with food.

Black fruit, earth and mineral flavors with some herbal overtones. Nicely balanced and the wine comes together in a tasty package. Can drink now or wait.

Classically Bordeaux in texture, nose and palate. Somewhat muted at this point indicating that is should be drunk now. Spice, mineral and black cherry in the nose. A bit of earthiness on the palate to complement that the other flavors in the nose. Color is garnet with pale rim.

Still a little tannic, with mineral notes and currant fruit. Medium body and acidity with a 30 sec finish. Classic Bordeaux profile. Nice wine for the $18 I paid.

Decanted for ~1hr and drank along side an '00 D'Agassac. This one showed more herb, floral and mineral notes compared to the fruity, leathery and woodsy D'Agassac. Had completely fell apart after 3+hrs in the decanter. I'd drink it now.

Classic Bordeaux, with a curranty, minty edge, but this bottle was backed up by little fruit. Slightly dusty tannin creeps in. Probably not the best showing.

Decanted for about 2 hours. Lovely garnet color. Very floral nose, with hints of oak and smoke. On the palate is a very - very balanced wine. Ripe red fruits, gentle oak and earth. Well integrated but still young tannins. This vintage have a good ageing potential. Good and long aftertaste. ALLERT QPR!!!
