Tasted this wine at the Mas de Daumas Gassac Tasting with Basile Guibert at the Tower Club as part of the International Congress of Chinese Cuisine & Wine (ICCCW).
Gold in colour with notes of nuts, sandalwood and incense on the nose. This wine is flavourful with oily peanuts and canola. Oxidative in style with ripe white fruits.

Huge positive surprise. 5 tasters and 5 'wows' Greenish tinge has faded, turning a gentle yellow gold Good acidity to balance the exotic fruit flavours emerging. Opened up with glass time and the second pour was better than the first.

Goud geel van kleur, in de neus appeltjes, rijpe peer, venkel/anijs, perzik, rijpe meloen, honingachtig en bloemig. Prachtige zuren, medium ++, lange afdronk met meerdere lagen, wat een wijn!

This bottle was fresh and pale. Still with the estery pear-drop notes I associate with this wine but now muted. Palate well textured and refined. Very interesting and food friendly.

It would be fun to serve this in a blind tasting. This is like the white that has everything and nothing at the same time. I like the producer and I think there is quality for price no doubt. However it is just so hard to figure this guy out. Nutty honey full body. Slight sweetness. Low acid. I don't think this should see much more age.

Going into a distinctly tired phase where the primary fruit has died off but without bringing up the toasty oxidative edge that marks out older Gassac whites. One bottle left - 2024?

Not cheap but this is a great wine: a luxurious tasting blend of chardonnay and viognier. Oily, viscous and unctuous with quince and citrus fruits, but saved decisively from syrupy stodge by a crisp, dry finish. Delicious.

Better integrated now but still outrageously luxurious and fruity--almost sweet. Esters of peach and banana--but attractive and more besides. Rich palate. Loads of fun.

A wonderful start to a lunch with a very fresh Languedoc crisp with a lot of fruit.
I am going to go for pineapple on this one
A lovely execution from a great house
Keep going with this Vineyard - The Sommelier who had just returned said there was a 7 degree difference in the temperature in this valley due to the river and the forest. This producer is going from strength to strength.

I drank it a week after opening a bottle of the 2008. The difference is marked. I suspect there is a higher percentage of viognier. The consequence is that it lacks the elegance of the 2008. However, it is a very enjoyable wine with notes of peach, apple and honey

A nose of pineapple, honey, flowers and aniseed. The palate was creamy with more floral and aniseed notes. Some bitterness provides excellent balance. This wine developed in a fascinating way in the glass - one to savour.

Remains a Condrieu look-alike. The bitterness is still there but tasting it the 2nd day it is certainly expansive and improving nicely. Likely to be at its apogee in 6 months.

First bottle from a case. All of the exuberance one expects from a young Daumas blanc. Initially a little hot, disjointed and bitter on the finish. I note that this year viognier is listed 1st on the cepage, so the less refined aspects are likely to resolve. Having said that, experience tells me that this wine peaks at 18-36 months and I'm not sure that it has a late bloom as its maker suggests. This is not to detract from a highly enjoyable, food versatile wine, that should hit its stride shortly. For those wanting more precision, it is of medium weight and length with loquart, quince and pear type notes. Delicious.

A magnificent Mas de Daumas Gassac vertical from the private cellars of Allard Jakobs (Restaurant Sinck, Amsterdam, NL): Magnum 2009. Tropical in style, almost Sauternes like but obviously drier, lovely bitters (do I detect a hint of oak)?

On the palate apple (pie), apricots, bananas and raisins. Very ripe fruits. Firm amount of good bitterness. When the wine became a bit warmer in the glass the quality and length improved, so don't drink it too cold.
