Nice evolved plummy and spicy nose with a little forest floor. Rich and plummy on the palate but some Sangiovese freshness and acidity too. Tannins at point providing a velvety long finish.

I’d drink up if I had some

  • I have enjoyed the richness of Camartina is the past but this bottle was a bit of a disappointment. Not that their was technically anything wrong, rather it just hadnt evolved any complexity and was showing pretty much ripe rich primary fruit. Great with a meal commented the patriarch. could this be because the bottle had been so well stored/ perhaps needs 20+ more years? The overall impression on my part is one of confusion.

  • Querciabella (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Leather, earth, meaty, a little dusty baking spice, brambles, blackcurrant, cedar. Medium plus intensity acidity is juicy, fleshy, mouthwatering. Tannins are drying and talc textured, they persist long with the brambly, blackcurrant notes accompanied by a little cherry. Yum

  • Tobacco, leather and spice, and everything nice… Deep dark burnt fruit… Great blend of tenants in acidity and fruit and alcohol… Simply a pleasure

  • Enjoyed on NYE 2017 accompanying a lovely rare eye fillet. Decanted for 2 hours and drunk from Riedel Vinum glassware. Great match for the meal; very yummy on the wife scale. Happy chappy.

  • Querciabella Supper (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Cream, polished oak, sweet spice, cassis, ripe blackcurrant, sweet cherry and slight leather but very 'sweet fruit aromas here. Almost Brunello weight nose. The sweetness of the cherry and black currant fruit translates to the palate with plentiful front of mouth grip and juicy acidity. Quite long finish. Very good and feels like a different producer compared to the other wines.

  • Typically a Cabernet-driven blend of biodynamically farmed Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Aged in French oak barriques (25% new). 14% alcohol.

Developed black cherry with somewhat brick-red hue, a little bit of translucency and a hint of haze. The nose feels aged, quite tertiary and somewhat raisiny with aromas of dried dates, some sunny dark fruits, a little bit of cooked dark berries, light beef jerky tones and a hint of prunes. The wine is rich, broad - even somewhat fat - and quite sweet-toned on the palate with quite unctuous flavors of cocktail cherries, ripe strawberries, some blackcurrant marmalade, a little bit of sweet licorice, light raisiny tones and a hint of alcohol warmth. The wine feels textural and silky on the palate with pretty modest acidity and quite resolved medium tannins. The finish is somewhat warm, lengthy and quite sweet-toned with flavors of dried dates, peppery spice, some pruney dark fruit, a little bit of raisin, a hint of tannic grip and a sweet touch of toasty oak spice.

A rich, smooth and sophisticated Super-Tuscan at its peak. Starting to feel quite tertiary and moderately raisiny, but not yet going downhill. The biggest problem here is the relatively low acidity and quite noticeably high ripeness which make the wine feel a bit too sweet, flabby and unctuous. Overall there's nice aged wine quality here with an air of grace, but the wine lacks the finesse and complexity I look for in a mature Tuscan red. Good, but nothing exceptional.

  • Nose - bright mint, savory along the lines of a salted plum, per Erica tobacco, coffee

Mouth - complex and open, cornucopia of red and dark fruits, lively fruit with good acidity and nice framing tannins, mature and all in balance. Really liking this tonight.

  • The body is full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. The first second in the mouth was disappointing but than an explosion. Tannins were perfect, well integrated. Except for that first second almost a perfect wine.

  • very dark, opaque with lighter rims - not the best one I must say. nose: veery strong: classic tuscan eventhough Cab dominates. Violets, bit jammy, bit tart, mushroms, forrest bedding and finaly those lovely cherries - really very complex. taste: (decanted 2 h) great moment to open this one, tannins remanied in the bottle, what have left were copletley integrated - wine was very elegant and smooth, lot of ripe currants with dark cherries. finish: long with chocolate accents with adition of ripe cherries, very soft and fullmouth. Thick. The greatest bottle so far, for us.

  • This wine was a favorite among friends this evening. Decanted less than an hour before consumption. Lovely dark fruit - juicy- with earthy undertones. Med+ body, low acidity with mellow tannins and a lovely finish. We enjoyed this wine after dinner was finished and everyone kept going back for more. Appears 2012 is the end of the drinking window, so may have been tighter earlier in its youth, but this wine was absolutely delicious!

  • It was good to revisit this. There's definitely bottle variation here. This was way better than the one I had a couple of months ago. Importantly, the fruit content was way more intense. Nice structure- tannins pretty evolved and integrated. The wine evolved much more on the glass than the previous bottle too. Good medium+ finish. I'll hold my last bottle for another couple of years trying to get more complexity and tertiary notes- which are usually nice with Sangiovese.

  • Saturday night at Andy and Cindy's with Maryann and Andy - pasta making night. Brought and enjoyed the '99 and '00 Camartina. Neither bottle given any air in advance. On the night the '00 showed better. Both very nice.

  • Drinking nicely. The nose gave the most for this wine-good complexity. The palate felt short of fruit content after some time. Round tannins. Medium finish. I was expecting a bit more from this wine.

  • New Year's Eve at the G's by the fir pit. A Querciabella extravaganza - '98 Batar, "99 and 2000 Camartina. Batar did best in the cold - neither of the Camartina showed its best - thought the 2000 seemed liked best by the group.

  • Friday night at Lee and Lisa's - homemade pasta with asparagus. Nice bottle - stood up well to the tricky asparagus.

  • Drinking well, with the brighter fruit flavors taking second place behind leather and spicebox. Hints of cherry fruit break through...this is moving on to the next phase. Tasty.

  • Very dark color, nose of black fruits maybe some cedar. Lovely, balanced mouth with fine tannins, acidity that brightens the cherry flavors in the palate. Finish lasts for a while. Very nice and big success.

  • Decanted for about two hours. Deep red color, with almost black core. The nose is impressive but I was confusing, I thought it was a syrah, leather, spices, meat... To the palate medium to full bodied, with all the kinds of spices and ripe red fruits.Powerfull with a lot of tannins. A little bit dry aftertaste. Indeed a sexy supertuscan.
    Needs time.

  • 60% sangiovese, 35% cabernet sauvignon, 5% Merlot/Syrah
Dull nose. Good fruit and structure. But a bit dull.
