Somewhat complex, but not really that complex... it has that elegant twist, avant-garde, & need an hour and half decanting time.
Initially Maple syrup & strawberries, Mocha & then a lot of plum , toasted coconut, pepper spicy, sweet cloves & a long finish of tobacco & green cooking herbs (oregano & tarragon perhaps) ... Delicious flowing acid & a beautiful aroma.

Having drunk the 2004 some days earlier, I was hoping for a younger version with the same style, but unfortunately there was a rather odd vegetable aroma which lingered. The wine was still dark and rich like the 2004, but was disappointing.
One bottle remaining, which I will drink soon

Nice aroma of cedar and dark fruit. Intense flavors of blueberry, cranberry, chocolate, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and zesty pepper. Medium to full body, long finish. Smooth and complex. Wonderful. Decanted 1.5 hours.

Funkier and more complex than I’m used to from Clarendon Hills wines. But it’s still got the powerful red and black fruit that you can always expect. Animal notes of fur and leather, mineral, blackberry, currant, Asian spices on the nose and the finish.

Normally not an Aussie Shiraz fan but bought it on WTSO for cheap some years ago, suggesting an oversupply. Wow. Mocha, menthol and dark berry fruit on entry, good structure and long finish. Secondary notes of brambles and strawberries. Drink now because this was severely weakened by day 2 (but who can make it last any longer without nitrogen and/or Coravin). Last bottle and wish I had more.

Well balanced, expressive nose and palate. Somewhat simple, but there's enough going on here to keep it interesting: berry, plum, chocolate, oak, with some earth and herbal notes and spice. Much improved on day 2, with the nose fully open, with strong mocha flavor and aroma.

I bought a lot of the '07 Clarendon's when they were being dumped on the US market. So far, I have not been impressed. This one, at 10 years of age, is still very primary. But what really bothers me are the sour notes; these aren't as bad on the first night, but by the third night, this is just awful. This has been my experience across several vineyards, so it's not just one bad bottle or shipment. I'll wait a couple more years before opening the next one.

Friday Afternoon (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Purple red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over an hour. Very enjoyable nose, plenty of savory, meatiness, some earth and lots of black fruits and dried spice. The palate is consistent, balanced, full bodied, dense black fruits, meat, mineral.

Meaty and savory but there's black cherry and plum fruit as well. Subtle and complex with a good mouthfeel. At nine years old, comes across as integrated but with more years to come.

Low tannins with medium to high acidity. Black and blueberry flavors with mild peppery to it. This is more restrained than both Hickenbotham and Piggot Range. Not as smooth as Hickenbotham but more so than Piggot Range. Less fruit than Hickenbotham and not as big a wine as Piggot. Good for the price but not great.
Addendum: on second tasting with more time, it developed some sour cherry flavors that I haven't tasted in other Clarendon Hills Syrah or Grenache and made me think this does have some more aging potential.

Not a fruit bomb. Tastes more Cote Rotie than S. Aussie Shiraz. Pleasing nose; floral and mineral notes on palate, with blackberry, herbs and pepper. Long finish. $34 is a lot to spend on a bottle of wine, but you can easily spend more than that for something not as good.

Black licorice, cough syrup, pepper, menthol, spice. Hot but clean, slightly higher acid than expected at this point. Finish lingers in the mouth, slightly grippy tannins. Good Aussie Syrah, different than any other Clarendon wine I've had. Nice wine, not sure I'd buy again.

Tasted back-to-back with the 2007 CH Hickenbotham. Both are wonderful examples of really good Aussie Syrah, but the Hickenbotham edged out the Liandra in my opinion. Just a tad smoother and with a touch of dark chocolate and cola; the Liandra was a bit more acidic. Both showed complex dark fruits, and a lovely lingering finish. As I noted in my related tasting note, all of the guys preferred the Liandra, and the ladies went for the Hikenbotham.

Dark fruit and smoke on the nose (like a fireplace the morning after a nice blaze). On the palate blackberries and dark plums, red meat, olives, and subtle black pepper. Layered and nice complexity. Silky, sultry and full bodied. A gorgeous wine! Tons of dark black fruit- black cherry, blackberry, even hints of plum. Well integrated tannins make this drinkable and enjoyable now. Spice on the long fruity finish. Opaque and inky. The alcohol is there but it's not overpowering. Devour and enjoy over the next few years. Now-2017.

Opened 1 hour before consuming. Ripe Plums and blueberries with some tar and quite a bit of oak (little more than I care for). But this was nicely balanced and had a long finish. Drank with the '07 Brookman and preferred the Brookman (due to the oak).

decanted 1+ hour. drank over 2 days. Nice on the first day but even better the second day. some of the acidity had fallen away and was drinking beautifully. has a lot of life left. 92+

blackberry, black olive, herb and a touch of smoke blend together nicely...hedonistic of course, but not overbearing.

Now-2017.

Excellent! Dark fruit...pepper. Solid 92....debated giving it a 93 and reserve the right to change my mind. Opened up nicely. I could get used to drinking wine like this. Love Aussie Shiraz.....I mean Syrah. :) Cannot wait to drink the Brookman and Hickinbotham.
