A light-bodied and rather tasty Pinot noir, developing some of the aromas and flavors one seeks at peak, but probably not quite there yet. The wine is medium ruby in color, with a nose of pomegranates and carrot cake, wet stone, allspice. Sweet but with tangy acidity and a polished, soft texture. Long finish supported by that same impression of granite...

Ripe red and dark fruits with hints of earth and sous bois, great balance, smooth texture and a medium body. Harmonious and seamless, good depth, no sharp edges and nice structure. While not a special wine, it was very enjoyable and a great example of an Oregon pinot.

popped and poured. mild very pleasant nose, light- medium body, hidden tannins, fruit; subsequent days it picked up tannins and body eventually medium to full and good balance of dark fruit and savary and acid. Has some years of life left.

Really enjoyable. Tart pomegranate, fresh strawberries, coffee, moist earth, and a sprinkle of baking spice. Great on its own but really came alive with some bbq'd Salmon. Need to try more from this producer.

The first of four Crowley bottles and the first bottle opened from 5 cases of 2008 Oregon Pinots selected for me by Michael Alberty at Storyteller. This was decanted for 30 minutes leaving a light sediment and showing a medium-dark ruby color with excellent clarity. Aromatically, it offered clean, fresh floral tones accented by crushed red berries with an earthy edge. In the mouth, I was immediately struck with the sublimely smooth texture of this wine. It was medium in weight with a finely woven play of flavors that included strawberry, red raspberry, tea, spices, and earth hints. It is well balanced and has moderate length finishing cleanly with smooth tannins peeking out at the end. Unmistakably varietal, this has a harmonious understated personality that I found quite appealing and a lovely accompaniment to my salmon with a Tamari, garlic, and ginger glaze, black rice, and a ginger garlic stir fry of Bok Choy, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts.

Bouquet of minerals and red fruit. Strawberry candy on pallet. Well balanced. Finish was great when I opened it but seemed to fade through the night. Usually wines express themselves better after a few hours of breathing. Hmm?

"Non-Baller" Wines, Take 6 (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): i wasn't as impressed with this wine as some other people at the tasting. the nose smells really stinky. i remarked that it smelled like someone lit a port-a-potty on fire. the palate is light and fresh with some good cranberry and mushroom flavors. after a while the nose settled down. still a good wine.
Stinky nose that was rustic with some mushroom and dark fruit. Palate had a good dose of oak that I didn't mind too much. Had nice dark fruit, fresh florals and a nice finish.

Notes from day 2. Nice dark red to purple color. Nose of beautiful barnyard, earth, red raspberry, little sandlewood. Palate of red cherry, cranberry skin, forest loam, mushroom, and a little spice. Finish was a little above average in length and a solid mouthfeel and good acidity to boot. Overall the wine is everything you could want in a base level pinot from WV, Tyson killed it. Hold or drink: 50+5+12+17+7

Beautiful nose, red fruit (girlfriend said "raspberry tart!") and graham crackers. Very nice up front, cherries and decent loaminess. Lacking a bit in the mouthfeel... many 08 Oregon pinots give me a sense of cream, this one doesn't. Vanishes towards the end. Mixed feelings about this wine: up front she's a beauty... from the back she's a plane Jane. Which ain't so bad I suppose.

Good flattering Pinot nose and mouth. Aromas of cherry, tea leaf and caramel on the nose. On the palate- fresh and robust (for Pinot) Good structure and balance... a very complete Pinot. Cherry, raspberry with a hint of earthiness and dusty minerality, smooth tannins. Medium length. Drink or hold. Great wine, much enjoyed.

Very burgundian in style. Had higher expectations for this wine with all the reviews of the historic '08 vintage. The wine starts slow (muted alcoholic nose) and finishes slow (short finish) and was only better than average in between. Even after an hour of breathing it still never showed the richness that I hoped for. The fruit was dominated by minerality which was ultimately the redeeming value of the wine.

Drinking beautifully at this moment in time! Was trying to keep my hands off this rising superstars terrific 2008 blend of winemakers sourced grapes, but was tipped off the wine was in a great stage! So, what better way to celebrate the hopes for the new year, than a terrific Oregon Pinot from the acclaimed 2008 vintage we know will not disappoint as the wine matures and the winemaker continues his evolution. Crisp balanced fruit, sensuous silkiness a deep taste of red & black fruit with some nice Oregon soily terroir, good hint of mushroom and forest, with some mocha spice underlying it all. Very nice blend! Glad to have more and look forward to tasting down the road after gathering some dust!

I'm new to the Crowley dance party, but I am diving straight into the mosh pit. Nose was like raspberry turnover, bramble, good earth. Good structure. The wine offers a little respite mid palate, it's where the fruit comes out to play and the acidity ebbs for just a moment. The wine sings in harmony and I was impressed.
