nose - tropical mouth - delicious, very ripe, has a tropicality that i do not expect to find in chablis with notes of banana and passionfruit. excellent minerality on the long and very clean finish. lots of pleasure here but a bit of a head scratcher.
The pricing on this cuvee is silly.

Really nice, fresh, and complex nose with citrus, some butter, and salty popcorn notes. Much less ripe than I had expected. On the palate, there's excellent weight, lifted by nice acidity and lots of lemon and minerals. Just a bit richer towards the back of the palate and a long and lingering finish. I would never had guessed this was a 2003. Excellent wine and still remarkably fresh!

Decanted for 3 hours. Very chablis nose of lemon, oyster shell, honey and beeswax. Deep, rich palate, lemon chiffon flavors on a fairly glossy texture. Lacks acid but has an alluring lemon rind finish that adds interest. The rich, deep texture is a unique expression of Chablis and an artifact of the vintage but very enjoyable.

Wine tasting Dinner - sundry HQ (J,S,J,K) (At home): Bottle in perfect condition. High acidity, a rich wine, stone fruit, toast and a note of butter. Tasted against Kumeu River Hunting Hill 2015. Raveneau is in my opinion Chablis's best producer. However, I must admit, Kumeu River tasted like a Chassagne-Montrachet and was by our extremely experienced guests guessed as such. 12 years younger but also complex and well balanced and maybe a little better than Raveneau ( I gave Kumeu River 94+ and the price is less than a tenth of Raveneau)

pale lemon, straw, youthful looking. lemon curd creaminess, white flowers, cottage cheese, smooth. soft and fleshy, creamy texture, talc and chalk, white blossoms, lemon curd, stone fruit zest is there on the ripe tasty finish. acidity is relatively low and structure atypically soft and pulpy but the hot year explains all this. excellent drinking now.

Lovely bright lemon colour, not showing much age. Soft gentle white flowers, Citrus zest, honeysuckle, orange rind, lots of mineral spice. Powerful impression, a super ripe year of course, but the acidity is quite impressive considering this, good power from start to finish, great balance. Not typical, but still a great drink.

A private lunch (Restaurant De Jonkman **, Brugge, Belgium): Perfect appearance, limpid, intense but lively, relatively light for age; on the nose and on the palate a wonderfully precise expression of Les Clos in a hot vintage; has all the seashell minerality of the terroir, energy is perhaps slightly lower than usual and so is the acidity, but the balance is impeccable, the fruit slightly ripe than usual and there is a hint of butter; intense and stylish, hint of bitters, warmth from the older oak, lovely weight and wonderful depth, subtle; very good length. Accessible now, ten more years in it. Drink now - 2023.

Bright, lemony fruit on a lean frame: fresher than expected from the 2003 vintage, but more two-dimensional than expected from Raveneau or from Les Clos. At Hostellerie de l'Ecusson.

At Manresa. Right out of the gate this was tight with some bitter flavors and rough edges. After an hour in the decanter it rounded out and came to life. Clearly Raveneau, but the flavor profile is just not as exciting as that in great year like '04, for example. Wait on this or give a 3+ hour decant.

Definitely not a great bottle and probably not a great vintage of Les Clos. The wine was good but there were some strange flavors in it. This bottle was from a lot sourced from Premier Cru with Danish labels. If you have any of these I suggest you check in on them - one of our bottles was corked, one was good and this one was a little strange.

Tasted April 28, 2007 at an offline. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of wet stone, citrus oil, yellow apples and paraffin. Flavors of minerals, pears and some yellow apples. Medium acidity and body. Drink over the short term.

A few days in Paris; 7/18/2006-7/23/2006 (Paris): Overt lemon flavors come across as somewhat artificially sweetened on the palate. Odd, unbalanced flavors with firm acidity but only traces of Chablis minerallity. More full than the MdT, but not Clos-type build. Strange kool-aid mouthfeel and weight. Not a bad wine by any means, but a disappointment given its pedigree. Hopefully just in a bad place right now.

Raveneau, Zind Humbrecht etc - Wine tasting dinner (Erik Sørensen, Søllerød Kro): This evening's no 2 just a few centimeters behind Montee de Tonnere 2010, which is a lot cheaper. and on the other hand only a few centimeters ahead Butteaux 2007 which is among the cheapest in Raveneaus portfolio. 95++

Even with slight cork taint this showed that it's normally a great wine. My only bottle and I think it's better than what the vintage would suggest.
