  • Earthy savory nose. Rich creamy textured mouth. Earthy savory impressions continue on the finish with low acidity but good bitterness. Has improved even more since last tasting and feel this may further improve based on the trajectory. Shows best out of a wider glass than I would usually use for a rose.

P.S. Two days later after being in fridge vacuvin'd, and wow, this just keeps getting better. Savory earthy herbal nose had become more complex, but what is really striking is the texture of the wine. A beautiful rich creaminess which is then lifted with the savory almost umami sensations in the long finish. I think I might also make the case for serving this a bit cooler than I would have thought.

  • Saved a couple of these to see how they hold up. We drink current or just prior vintage of most roses. For DTB, maybe take that out another year or two. But this was an experiment with Steve, Ben, and Kendra to sample that wonderful, singular rose at seven years out.

The results were mixed. This first bottle was a little disappointing but not surprising: over the hill to our taste. There's still some fruit but it's joyless, and the tertiary flavors aren't desirable enough to make up in complexity for what's been lost with age. bottom line, for us at least, is to drink even rose's best within five years of vintage.

October Update: the second of the two we saved was MUCH better. Fresher, mouthwatering, worth having held onto. So, apparently, bottle variation is something you may need to put up with to experience this, possibly best of all roses, with some age on it.

  • Decant - still needs to open up, drinking superbly and a classic example how this incredible wine can age. Plenty of life left

  • Drinking beautifully. Love the weight. Feels like Meursault but pink.
My last bottle was definitely flawed. Glad we are back!

  • Lightly pre-moxed but still drinkable. Hope it was a one-off.
