Dark crimson with little red at the edge. Lovely expressive nose of cassis, crushed blackcurrants, tea leaf and cedar. Palate mid weight and very classical Pauillac. Very pure with fine but persistent line of tannins finishing clean. An excellent wine representative of the year and terroir.
Showing its Pauillac characteristics. For me, lots of black fruit, cassis, and black tea mixed with some green tobacco. This is not a huge wine, but has the elegance I think of when someone says "2001 Bordeaux". Had with a big T-bone off the grill, it was hard not to drink the whole bottle.
Dark colour. This started out a little funky but that quickly blew off to reveal an expressive nose of dark fruits, black olives, earth, mocha, and a little green tobacco. Still some firmer tannins but they've softened slightly since last tasted in 2010. Drinking well now, in a youthful way. Still plenty development in store.

(Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac) Very appealing nose here, very polished fruit style, very expressive, suggesting a good presence and texture. Good depth of fruit, good complexity, not exotic aromas but a deep and spicy wealth of forest fruit character with a delightful grainy element. Very appealing palate, youthful and primary but very well composed, harmonious and almost honeyed. Polished, textured, very complete style, beautifully silky tannins, nicely intertwined with the rest of the wine. Fresh acidity. Perfumed, red fruits, violets, lots of potential here.
