  • Milan Wine Event 3 - A 2014 vintage check up (Altrimenti, Milano): Maybe the best wine we rarely drink as if for some celestial reason we just never cross paths. And when we do it never fails us.
Much like before and even more in this challenging of vintage of 2014 this was a Beauty. Elegant, soft not overdone or pushed and sort of led with a soft hand to deliver the maximum of what this vintage and Mother Nature gave it. Dark fruit, well managed and assimilated oak and just a beautiful wine. Not sure on longevity here and further evolution but happy to take the bet, very pretty 93+

  • What a beautiful wine. First one I've ever had. Best wine of the Easter dinner by far. Drank between a 21 Lucien Le Moine Bourgogne Blanc and an 06 Pontet Canet.
Opened for 2hrs then decanted for another hour. Needed it for sure. Continued to open in the glass over the next hour.
Loads of beautiful earthy black cherry. Clearly Sangiovese at an extremely high level.
I will hold on to my other 2 bottles for at least 3 yrs , probably 5 , before I open another one. If you open one anytime soon definitely give it a lot of air as it was very thin, tight, and tannic when first opened.

  • Still early on this one but it's a more elegant vintage and therefore approachable. Refined even with its weight and concentration. Upside from here.

  • Sangiovese night (Chicago, IL): Very Pergole Torte, with its delicate red fruit and silky texture. Relatively on the lighter side, with less of the raw power of a bigger vintage, and more of an acid-driven elegance. I love the floral perfume here, but the tannins on the back end suggest that a few more years is probably the right course of action.

  • From mag. Ready to drink. This is a much lighter style of LPT given the vintage - decanted for 2hrs+ in 2x 750ml decanters and it needed it. Wow, this was bursting at the seams - the nose was to die for. Tuscany in a glass - intense violets, dried cherry, asphalt/scorched earth, wild rosemary. The palate is more light bodied for LPT but makes up for it with juicy and bright cherry flavors with extremely fine and supple tannins. This is a wine to enjoy in youth, would not recommend aging this as it's drinking so great right now.
