La Paulée de Los Angeles - The Verticals (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Walkaround vertical tasting. Absolutely approachable red-fruited charmer with great density, while wonderfully balanced and easy to enjoy now. But yet... somehow... great intensity and concentration emerges. Great now with plenty of upside. A great wine in its early drinking stages.

Wines Tasted at the La Paulée Verticals Session (The Maybourne, Beverly Hills): Light ruby. Menthol notes on the nose. Light weight. Core of ripe pure red fruit in a pas de deux with the fine soil. Some flesh and a properly firm tannic finish. So Drouhin in its elegance and subtlety, and a beautiful example of an outstanding lighter weight Gevrey Grand Cru. Delicious, so enjoyable even now but will last very well. It seems like its hard to find a 2017 that isn't open and forthcoming now.

Joseph Drouhin Cellar Visit and Tasting (Day 10, Visit 1) (Beaune): Barrel tasting at Drouhin. Almost always a person favorite from this cellar, and 2017 doesn't disappoint. Black and red cherry and black berry comes across as so pure and elegant with weightless textures and wonderful balance, but a sneaky, long finish. 93-94 point potential.
