  • This needs more time. Lovely spice and red fruit aromatics, and a solid acidic structure. The tannins are still very obviously present. The next day this really has opened up and shows more complexity on the nose, along with a silky texture, backed by excellent acidity. Lovely, but leave the rest of 'em alone for a few years.

  • Oh classic 2005, so much acidity when first opened. Decanted for half an hour, then tracked from there.

Most pleasurable after 3 hours - balance of all elements, great dark red fruits, earth, spice and great balance of acid and tannin. Great finish that is clean as well. Don’t be afraid to decant this. It can take it.

This does need air, I would say the wine needs 5-10 years to truly pop-and-pour, but performs real well on an early drinking window after some air.

  • Lighter colored with a bit of bricking. Earthy and a touch funky with a core of red berry fruit. I'd say these are emerging from their slumber but you mileage may vary. Classic, unpretentious bottle of red Burg.

  • Agree with previous notes on needing air to shed it’s rough edges; then there is the pour - medium garnet, visually thought it had faded based on color, thinness possibly the cause of a lighter hue in glass. I’ve had 3 of 12 bought at auction. Bottle 3 finally showing - so approach these notes with caution, if unsure of provenance.

  • Medium garnet color. Nose of turned earth, black pepper, and sweet red berries. Light to medium bodied on the palate with good presence and length and fine, ripe tannins on the finish.
