Light red. Full of fresh red fruit with some gamey and barnyard notes. Medium on tannins but high acidity, some red fruit and black pepper. Decently balanced and good length finish.

Pretty good showing. The bricked complexion and earthy aromatics show a good amount of development and primed me for an autumnal showing in the fashion of many 2008s of late, but this surprised me with denser, glossier fruit material than most still have to offer - plummy and not austere. The stem inclusion is still noticeable with its sapidity and pleasant snap of greenery. The remaining tannin actually feels fairly refined but it shows its Savigny rusticity in its earthy inflections. I don't know where this is going from here, but it certainly seems to have the opportunity for further improvement.

This was pretty tight at first , but after an hour or so of air it really showed well. Red and black raspberries, citrus zest, and a touch of coffee. Supple tannins, juicy acids, and a long minerally finish. Young, fresh, zesty and delicious. A-

My first bottle of this and wasn't sure how to handle it. Double decanted at 2:00, served at 7:30. That was not the right way. The wine was best, by quite a ways, within the first 90 minutes after opening. The aromas maintained throughout, but the acid/fruit balance that was barely there initially, gave way and on the palate the wine was simply not pleasurable. It was angular and acidic without the fruit to balance, and although there were notes of Savigny earth and mineral, it's just not a wine of pleasure, the way I treated it. Open, drink over 60 minutes is the way I'd do this next time, and even then it's never going to be a great wine, but get in there before the fruit is overtaken by the rest of the wine...
