new and aged Rhones: ruby colour and medium body. fresh nose of raspberries, strawberries, minty herbs and black olives. red berry flavours mark the entry, but are quickly absorbed in the strong acidic and tannic core that dominates the mid palate. a mineral vein leads into a long finish where the fruit flavours re-emerge.
fresh and complex, this wine needs time to integrate.
14.5% AbV; 65% Grenache/ 15% Mourvèdre/ 15% Syrah/ 5% Clairette and other permitted CdP varietals; fermented in a mix of stainless and wooden tanks; aged for ten months in concrete tank and then twelve months in oak foudres.

Palate showed fresh and ripe cranberries, gentle sweet blueberries, clean and fresh minerality that gives it a nice push. Autumn leaves, wet forest floor and even floral herbs that linger into the finish.
Awesome wine for what you're paying for. A pleasure now and should be interesting with more age as well. Punches well above its price tag.

Premium Rhône Tasting (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Clear light ruby center. Sweet raspberry and toffee aromatics. Medium weight. Bright, perfectly ripe red fruit and herbs on the entry, very supple mid-palate, and then strong acidity, licorice, tobacco, and tannin kick in leading to a serious, dry finish. Chewy for its weight. It currently shows more Mourvèdre than the 15% in the cepage. I think this is outstanding, but it needs a good deal of time to integrate the front and back ends, which are almost like 2 different wines right now.

A Rhône Rapture (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): Nose of ripe red berries with aromatic floral notes. Awesome freshness of minerality and notes of clean, fresh air in an open field.

Very solid with nice layers of elegance--dark cherry and blueberry notes.
