  CdP blind tasting. Illuminating evening, while there were some nice and complex wines there were also quite a few misses. Issues revolved around either not aging well and becoming pruney, oxidative with cooked fruit aromas or just being too heavy/sweet/alcoholic. TN: Couldy color, very tertiary, cooked fruit, prunes, oxidative, fell apart quickly. Past peak.

  7th of 12, decanted 45 minutes, perfect cork and level, much fresher, energetic and more nuanced than June bottle reminding one what a good vintage this is in CdP, possible upside but seemingly much bottle variation so I'd be tempted to drink these over next few years. F+ (18).......played 2nd fiddle to Beaucastel 99!

  6th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, similar to last bottle in Jan 20, nose more of sweaty saddle/mourvedre than grenache, palate a bit weedy and tired, but quite layered, nice enough but not one of best 01s such as Beaucastel, Rayas and Mordoree, downside but no rush. VG+ (16.5).
