Wow, what a colour for a Spatlese, rich, gold bullion! Extraordinary, complex, nose of ripest mangos, sweet butter, orange blossom, marmalade, toffee and touch of cinnamon. All the above flavours and more on the hugely opulent, almost viscous palate including mixed red/white summer berries, toffee apples, mixed, sweet, spices and fresh, liquid, honey. Throughout, plenty of acidity to bring harmony and perfect balance to the almost endless finish. Yet another Donnhoff masterpiece in not the easiest of years to get everything just right for top flight Riesling. Just magnificent and, if tasted blind, I would've sworn it was at least an Auslese+. Bravo!

Cellaraid Discovery Box; 5/19/2017-5/26/2021 (Delivered to Home): Deep, starlight golden hue. Aromas of honeycomb, ripened apples, and a hint of petrol. A pretty good amount of acid that adds to the freshness, medium sweet, and some thickness, with flavours of overripe peaches, and even slightly creamy, as well as a honeyed character that might suggest some effects of noble rot. Fair finish

Golden and gorgeous. Creamy fruit, honey, Smokey minerals, and orange rind. There’s the beginnings of petrol but it’s quite faint. Drink now for textured primary fruit or hold for a few more years for more petrol and everything that comes with it.

Excellent. Agree with other recent tasting notes. Can likely go much longer but no reason to wait.
