Langton's Bordeaux En Primeur 2022 tasting (Langham Hotel, Kent Street, Sydney): Blackberries, plums, sweet spice, a little violet and a touch of liquorice. Medium plus intensity acidity, again it's more berries and plums than blackcurrant for me here, woody , grippy drying tannins chase the fruit around the palate joined by a little alcohol warmth. Hmm, okay in a slightly big way

Bordeaux 2022 barrel tasting event (Papiersaal Sihlcity, Zürich): Main takeaways: 1/ Despite a considerable amount of hype, this came across as bi-polar vintage with for every insanely good wine at least one dead-on-arrival counterpart. 2/ High alcohol levels, over-extraction and cooked fruit appear to be common pitfalls. 3/ Top wines were 1. Figeac (98), 2. Brane Cantenac (97), 3. Les Carmes Haut Brion (96). Full list of 20 wines and scores in included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: This showed a pretty unique profile with a distinctly sweet, gummi bear-like fruit along with a bit of sweet spice. Medium+ intensity palate with a bit of heat, but otherwise decently harmonious.

On the floral edge, with black currants, black cherries, licorice, cigar box and forest floor in the nose, the palate is round in texture. The fruits are fresh, creamy, sweet, ripe and lively, with a finish that is long, and layered with red, black and blue fruits. Give it a few years in the cellar, and enjoy over the following 2 or more decades. The wine is blended using 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. 14.44 % ABV, 3.86 pH. Harvesting took place September 12 - September 22. Yields were 37 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2025-2050. 93-95 Pts.

Bravo! (Verkostet "En Primeur" im April 2023 / Vintex / Château Ripeau) #primeurs22 www.vvWine.ch

Bordeaux 2022 en Primeur and some recent vintages: The extraction and tannins are harmonious, but aromatically the wine is a little harmless.
