  • Bumping it up a point since 2020 tasting as I think this has developed very nicely and ready to drink now. Really lovely nose on this that is classic mature Bordeaux. Beautiful wine!

  • Third bottle from a half case purchased in 2002. Pristine condition. Not decanted, opened two hours in advance. Mature but lively appearance; smoky and spicy nose, cedar and tobacco, red berries and gravel, whiffs of chocolate and farmyard, good depth; the clear and transparent palate is too light for a wine of this stature, but it is vibrant and youthful, energetic and fresh, with light but sticky tannins; the finish is on the dry side with a touch of liquorice. Markedly different from the previous two bottles from the same half case, but the overall verdict is consistent: an attractive Saint-Julien that lacks power.

  • Nothing wrong with this wine. First 2 bottles had decanted 3 hours in view of previous reviews, but 3rd bottle pop and pour and it was still great.
Colour good, no sign of age nose, perhaps, not so strong, taste soft and easily digestible, medium length taste

  • Promotion wine night. This bottle was delivered straight from the chateau in 2022.

    Pours ruby color.
Nose is bandaids, soil, leather, currants.
    Low acidity, smooth tannins.
Flavors are 80% tertiary with leather, soil, mushroom, and the rest a mixture of day old currants and dried herbs.
Overall not the flavor profile I dream about, but a great aged Gruaud.

  • A great Bordeaux. Hitting its stride now. Ready to be consumed after some decanting. Better the following day and still good after 3 days. At some point plenty of flowers, violets. Lead pencil and graphite all along, leather in the background but very very pleasant conferring a great elegance and not invasive at all. Smooth tannins. Very long. I would not wait much longer on it, ready to be consumed.
