  • Disappointing at best for a 2005. Much preferred the ‘04 and hope this was an off bottle as I have 1 more.

  • *From a cold cellar. Very reticent and muscular, almost to a point of port. With time the fruit depth and linger improved and the cedar started peeking out, but you can stick a fork in this...You'll need a sharp fork. Having had this twice now in a close enough interval to remember both, I can honestly say that if I was blind and was served this and the 2003 blind, I would totally flip them in my mind. This is just a mess for a 2005 and the 2003 (which you would think should be the mess) is quite elegant and mild mannered in contrast. I am very happy that I had company to share this bottle. There would be NO WAY that I could finish more than one glass of this and to think that I have to drink the bottle as I look at the price tag, well, that would be painful. This is just over roasted and too boiled down for my old tongue. Maybe that's why all the old guys have mistresses in Burgundy. Drink or hold a 100 years and admire the label as cellar art.

  • I gave this wine a 95 3 months ago. Not sure of the decant time with this one. Drinks like a '14 Napa. Big fruit, both red and black. It's nice but probably needs a lot more time to settle in as most '05s from Bdx, do.

  • Decanted it 3 hours and really needed it, probably more. Nice Bordeaux nose and palate which continued to blossom for a couple more hours, being best at the end. These need more sleep.

  • Wow! Just finished a nice Italian dinner with friends and some great Brunello and barola. Well back to the house and this blows that away. Too cold right now and too young. Easy has 10 years to go but surely enjoying it. Have more. But need to remember this.
