This held up really well. Red fruit, berries, rose petal, and dark cherries on the nose. Tannins are very integrated at this point, with flavors of leather, dark berries, and forest floor on the palate. Nice finish. I don’t think this will improve anymore, but it’s drinking very well right now!

Somewhat dveloped and quite translucent dark cherry red color with a mature mahogany hue and a moderately wide, pale brick orange rim. Very sweet and oddly lactic, buttery nose with quite concentrated aromas of ghee, Liquorice Allsorts, some butterscotch, a little bit of ripe blackcurrant and a hint of marmaladey dark fruits. Overall the nose feels quite over-the-top and very distinct in a vertical lineup of +10 Tignanellos. The wine is full-bodied, ripe and concentrated yet not particularly weighty or muscular on the palate - on the contrary, the wine feels qelatively lean and linear in style. There are developed flavors of licorice, ripe blackcurrants, some melted butter, a little bit of sweet dark plums and a hint of savory oak spice. The wine is moderately high in acidity, but the tannins are fully resolved and almost nonexistent, contributing very little to the texture and really nothing to the structure. The finish is quite long and juicy with flavors of sweet dark plums, some crunchy blackcurrant tones, a little bit of melted butter or even ghee and a hint of sour cherry bitterness.
A rather pleasant and nicely developed but also remarkably atypical vintage of Tignanello that shows very weird and rather distracting buttery tones along with very pronounced liquorice tones especially in the nose. A drinkable effort, but nothing what I'd expect from a Tignanello. Having not tried this vintage before, I have no idea whether this was an off bottle or if this wine is just weirdly lactic even after +30 years... or if this bottle was a fake?

Noch immer Tanin und Säure. Im direkten Vergleich mit einem 2012er getrunken. Auch im Vergleich leider nicht so komplex wie erwartet. Korken war noch top.

Heady and aged as it should be. Soft berry leather. Holding its age commendably.
One for a cool autumn evening not a warm summer night.
