An interesting case of waiting a long time to pick. This lists 14.9% on the label. I quite enjoyed other than the part where the finish starts feeling that burn as the wine warms from fridge temp. Complex showing with lemon marmalade, old barrel, marzipan, cream, saline and grapefruit pith. It wants to show off the acid and is almost mineral but that ABV jumps up and stops the show. It is also showing like its aging along just fine as you would expect for an Hanzell. If only.

This Drank Better than the 2010 Raveneau Chablis I had the other day. Coconut dominant, but sound and pretty pleasurable. Well done. impressed and a true testament to the potential of Cali Chard if done right.

I really liked this. Light gold in color. Visually, less evolved than I anticipated. The nose has some pineapple, a touch of spice, perhaps a touch of orchard fruit too. Subtle. On the palate, slightly oily texture. Some citrus, some creaminess. Oak well integrated. The wine is deep and serious. Very balanced and well made. In a blind tasting, I would have guessed Burgundy. If I had another magnum, I would revisit in 2-3 yrs - I would love to see where this goes to. Then again, I am fond of aged Chards.

California Chardonnay (Trent's): I threw this in as an extra to have an older chard. I liked it far more than the group so I suppose this means I like older Chards. This was easily my top wine of the night. Light gold in color. The nose has some pineapple. A bit of spice. depth. On the palate, slightly oily texture. Lemon cream. The oak seems integrated. Deeper and complex than any wine. A couple people guessed this as the Hanzell but I did not. Not sure what quality clued them in. Good finish. This did not develop during the night but stayed about the same. This was bought by me shortly after release. $60

(Hanzell Chardonnay) Light sweet lemon and green apple nose; ripe lime, apple palate with medium acidity and green notes; medium finish 90+ pts. (has shown better in the past, seems to be in a dumb period)
(Hanzell Chardonnay) Light gold color; high toned lime and cream nose; youthful and concentrated lime cream and mineral palate that opens up after 20 minutes or so; medium finish (great with our iceburg lettuce salad)
