The nose is relatively muted, with notes of stewed apples and warm pecans. The palate has evolved with most of the crisp fruit being replaced by stewed notes. The acidity on the finish has also subsided quite a bit with just enough remaining to keep this wine honest. Drink now and no later.

The nose appears fairly closed. The palate, though tame, is somewhat austere, with complex minerality and loads of acidity. Pretty but needs air to be approachable.

Light gold appearance with noticeable legs clinging to the top of the glass. Nose was interesting, first impression when poured was of almond and sweet marzipan, fruit quite close. With time in the glass the nose evolved into a pungent burnt toffee apple smell. The wine is medium bodied with white stone fruit, with pronounced spice and white pepper giving way to a mineral finish. I wasn't keen on the nose, I don't like marzipan and hence the lowish score. However, also by general consent, the least liked wine of five Alscace wines tasted blind at Bacchus dinner. I have drunk the 2005 and enjoyed it enormously so I presume this will improve with time.

Seattle Wine Group - Feb 2015 Tasting - Theme: Riesling -- Dry & Dessert (Amaroso Room - Wine Storage Bellevue): Wine A
Nose of crispy apple, petrol/kerosene, and spice. Palate had honeysuckle, ginger, and green apples. Very dry. Long, medium complex finish.
My rank: 3rd out 8
Group rank: 2nd out of 8
