Found this back in the cellar and popped it for fun. Golden color with raisins and honey on the nose. A great old lady past her time but fun nonetheless.

Chicago Berserkerfest; 5/18/2013-5/19/2013 (Chicago, IL): Definitely the oldest Schramsberg I've had, but this was stately and elegant. It had lost much of its energy and edge, but drank much more like an aged, still, chardonnay. Smokey, and full of citrus it was a pleasure to drink.

This wine is at its peak. Toasty with creamy fuji apple notes and a complexity that reveals its age nicely. Perhaps the 3L format affected the aging to bring the wine into peak form. We enjoyed two of these at Stacy's 50th b'day aboard the bus on the way to a cave dinner at Pine Ridge Winery.
