  Coche Corton Charlemagne 2007 - very tight but immense richness. This took 2 hours to really blossom and now, after 6 hours is still getting better. Linden blossom, chalk and smoky Echiré butter. Remarkable potential.
  
  DRC Richebourg 1999 - Burgundy very rarely gets better than this. A huge mouthful of black and red fruits. Still very primary. A monster, but perfectly balanced.
  
  Chapoutier Hermitage 1929 - a very high fill and a great label. Still alive and kicking. Deep brick red. Soft, truffly mushroomy nose. Very long on the palate. Damsons and hung game. Up there with La Chap 61.
  
  The food - mostly truffle dishes - accompanied the wines perfectly without overwhelming them
