Silver apricot, 2nd bottle. At a great place, tannins perfectly mellowed but providing structural support and relaxed grip with a long finish. No detailed notes as it was enjoyed with a group over dinner but some blackberries, tobacco, and mushroom. Paired particularly well with a heavy umami mushroom rice dish. Excellent qpr, need to buy more

Lunch with the wine ark boys (Fix St. James, 111 Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Blackberry with a slight wild and sour bramble underpin, polished oak, a little boot polish, rocky minerality. medium plus intensity acidity, brambly, black fruits, slightly sour, talc textured tannins, slight baked quality. Okay.

Opened, but did not decant, 1 hour before dinner (grilled lamb chops). Brown/red color. Very complex nose. Soy, dark cherry, iron, mesquite, leather on nose. Palate similar to nose (ex. soy / forest floor). Full body, high acidity, medium tannins and long finish. Has improved with age. 93+/-

My impression remains that this vintage is perfectly correct but just lacks generosity or excitement; though I respect other tasters more positive experiences which may be based on better bottles as much as personal preference.

Perfectly good, even enjoyable, but as I've noted before there seems to be a lack of definition here and almost an aloof quality.
