By Bordeaux measure this chateau is a very young one. The first vintage was 1996! The 15-hectare vineyard of Chateau Belle-Vue is planted to 50% CS, 35% Merlot, and 15% PV. A year ago I had 2015 and I liked it. This one is slightly better. It's not so muscular, thick and heavy like 2015. It's finessed, more delicate, sophisticated and much more complicated. Smell. If I were an expert it would be much easier to describe what's not in it. But I'm not...red cherry, mint, cedar, forest, flowers, plum, smoke. What else? Tea (nice!), black currant, black cherry. Taste - it's a mix of "heavy and light" elements. Black cherry, blackberry, plum. On the other hand: vanilla, blueberry , licorice, mint. Perfect acidity and ripe, grippy tannins. Lovely, pretty long finish with spice , red fruits and... chocolate, cocoa, coffee! What I like more is how the texture goes from silky to velvety in the matter of the second. Interesting phenomenon 🤔 WS - 91 Decanter - 91 Vinous - 90 Jeff Leve - 89 WE - 89

This less than expensive Bordeaux blend is uncomplicated and not complex. It's well made.
Deep, very dark ruby-purple(still!). Blackberry, oak, tobacco. Earthy. Leather. Herbal. Still tannic after 3 days of air( Dec 28-31) as it was tea bag tannic in the first 2 hours.
Medium-full bodied, Dry, acidic. Long finish more then 60 seconds.
Cabernet Sauvignon 55 Petit Verdot 20 Merlot 20 And something else... 14% abv
This wine is good. But it bugs me to have saved it in a cellar for a decade, without the transformation anticipated. Will this get better? I think it stays on it's present path without improvement, except for exhibiting softer resolved tannins.
But, my sense is they this wine is what it is now. Drink up, pop the cork early, decant it, leave it open for a couple of days at least.
PS - Drink The Rainbow!

Better than last tasting 3 years ago. Good fruit flavors with some nice secondary elements. Well balanced. Elegant wine.

Quite classic in a bold but tight tannic vintage. Drinks well with food.
