Soft, translucent cherry red color. Spicy on the nose with raspberry accents. Smooth, crisp, clean on the palate, bright raspberry and cherry fruit. Bit one dimensional but really enjoyable. Soft tannins, bright, pleasing acidity, great balance. Lingering finish of bright red fruits. Nothing profound here, but what a joy to drink. Drink next 4 years.

This is really nice. Silky smooth, good hefty zin without being too heavy. Dark purple fruit, plum, just a bit of cinnamon. A fairly big wine but not out of proportion with itself. A really solid wine and drinking perfectly right now and over the next 3-5 years.

Opened, poured and let sit about 1/2 hr. Then: Nose of something like a red/spicy mint; not something I've encountered before - but interesting. Taste has a bit of that red/spicy mint note - not the red wild berry that I am looking for, but keeps me interested; and not the usual RRV spiciness tasted in many of Carlisle's zins; acidity and tannins OK; alcohol/warmth noticed on prior bottles is very much in the background, very faint and not an issue, seems to have integrated in this bottle. Not getting any over-ripe notes that I've had in a lot of Carlisle zins; not particularly sweet or BDX-like. Not sure why this one turned out so different from prior bottles, but I like it.
