Another bottle of this "Lost Cellar" wine that opens consistently with a dark colour with a red edge and a nose of dark cherry, redcurrant, pungent limestone rich earth and touches of rose and spice. The palate is medium weight with still fresh fruit characters balanced by an earthy minerality and spice all with good drive and balance. Very impressive at 24 years of age.

Another unrecorded surprise from deep in the cellar this wine transformed from a somewhat rusty coloured rustic NSG into something much better with an overnight slow-ox. Tonight there is a dark cherry colour with a red-brown edge and a nose of dark cherries, redcurrant, wild strawberry with pungent earth and forest floor characters. The palate was intense with plenty of flavour and richness dominated dark cherries and wild strawberry with touches of stone and soil. The finish is still quite structured and has nice grip and a persistent finish. Really delicious but needs a good slow aeration to bring out the best in this 23 year old wine.

Dark ruby, bricking at the edge. Perfect aged Burgundy nose, with wild berry, strawberry, damp earth, and sous bois. An elegant, silky palate boasted plenty of rich earth flavors and enough acid to hold everything in balance. The 1996 Les Chaignots is gorgeous and still has a few years before its peak. Total surprise.

A 'Lost Cellar' wine. Dark cherry colour with a red-brown edge. Nose of dark cherries, redcurrant, wild strawberry with pungent earth and forest floor character. The palate was rustic in the best sense with plenty of flavour and richness dominated by the earth and forest character on the finish. Still plenty of fruit present to balance the touch of 96 acid on the finish. A really lovely food wine with plenty of life at 21years of age.
