Deep ruby only showing moderate development. An intense and complex nose - liquorice, spice, black fruits, blueberries and charred wood. Great harmony between fruit and savoury notes.
Palate: full- body. Rich, velvety mouthfeel. Big but not overpowering. Persistent finish. Has a good 5+ years in it, probably more if well cellared. Excellent wine to see in the new year.
Enjoyable as this wine continues to age glacially. Not memorable. To be fair it was the 6th bottle of the night , so the bar was very high to be memorable :)

A deep garnet colour. Expressive, intense nose of ripe cherry, black plum and tobacco. A deep brooding entry with super-ripe dark fruits, minerals, smoke, and warmed gravel towards tar/bitumen. This is complex with nuances of liquorice and fleshed out with ripe jujube fruit, exotic spices and even some old oak. Full-bodied, powerful with excellent concentration, this is scintillating stuff with those ripe flavours mingled with notes of meat, game and blueberry coupled with a flash of menthol and dried herb - sweet marjoram perhaps? The tannins have a warm gravel edge pooling through the sweet envelope of polished fruit. 14.5%+ Alc. A highly refined wine with massive concentration and power. As the wine lingered, it showed its class, but while there was layering, it didn’t make me go further than 95. Closes with iron filings, warm fudge and a slightly soft toffee. A looong farewell. 97 Shiraz 3 Viognier blend from 120-160 yr old vines! 30 months in 60% new oak.

Fruit rather muted but smooth and complex. I probably would have enjoyed it more 3-5 years ago. It was good but not exceptional, so disappointing.
